Still baffles me how many reporters do not ask for the pronouns of the people they interview and use as sources. The second I realize that a piece misgenders a person I can’t read it anymore.

I just had an incredible encounter. Our doorbell rang, so I opened the window to look below to the front stoop.
When I saw a man delivering food, I called out to him, letting him know it must be for our neighbors downstairs. This, so far, is normal.

The overall point of this is spot on.

But stop saying “two justice systems.” Because nothing about the life of Kalief Browder involved justice. Unwarranted punitive punishment — yes, but no justice. On the other hand, Williams was never held accountable. We do not know justice.
