I met with local #farmers from @CLAtweets last week and what I heard was really concerning.
Our farmers are being incentivised by the government not to grow food. Instead, they're being encouraged to put solar panels on some of our best agricultural land.
It's madness. We should be supporting the people who feed this country, not making life harder for them.
If we continue down this road, we'll become increasingly reliant on imported food, while our own farming communities are pushed to the brink.
We should be backing #Britishfarmers, protecting our farmland and producing more food here at home. I’ll do what I can to protect our farmers.
Last week at Mayoral Council, I made the case for #Hull and #EastYorkshire, calling for greater support for community centres, more local control over business rates, and action to help more young people into work.
While parts of the meeting were useful, it was disappointing to see what should have been a serious discussion become a political argument.
My focus remains on delivering for Hull and East Yorkshire: good jobs, stronger communities, better connections and more opportunities for young people.

I've seen a lot of comments recently about transport across our region.
It's an issue people care deeply about, and rightly so. That's why I wanted to explain more about the approach we're taking.
By April 2027, we will be a fully operational Local Transport Authority, working closely with our local councils to deliver the best possible service for passengers.
I want to do everything I can to make transport more reliable and more affordable for everyone.
I've been asked a lot about where I stand on #NetZero, but my position hasn't changed.
I support clean energy and creating jobs, but I don't support ridiculous targets set by government that increase everyone's bills.
Shaw Trust will deliver our £11.7m Connect to Work programme, supporting up to 3,400 people with health conditions, disabilities, or other barriers into secure jobs as well as setting aside £200,000 to cover transport costs as people start work.

Wishing everyone at @hullkrofficial the very best of luck in the Challenge Cup Final today.
Hopefully we can bring a second win back from #Wembley in a week and give the city another huge moment to celebrate❤️🤍
Another really positive quarterly board meeting with leaders from @hullccnews and @East_Riding.
Last week's Local Growth Plan launch showed what's possible when everyone pulls together.
Still plenty to do, but the momentum is there and I'm optimistic about what's ahead.
A year into the role, I remain as determined as ever to deliver for our region and its people, from investment and regeneration to supporting our communities.
I’ve shared some thoughts on the first year and the priorities ahead.

I want to see more good jobs, more investment and more opportunities for local people here in our region.

Just under a week to go until Humber Business Week👏
Looking forward to the HEYCA Growth Hub event on day one. They do great work supporting businesses across our region, helping SMEs access the support and advice they need to grow and thrive.

Good luck to Hull City in the play-off final tomorrow 👊
I’ve even brought in a special guest for extra luck, someone who knows a thing or two about winning at Wembley.
The whole region is behind you.

I’m serious and ambitious about the future of our region.
For me, it comes down to something simple: making sure local people benefit. That’s exactly what our Local Growth Plan delivers.
Here’s just one example of how we’ll shape our future 📹

Yesterday at #UKREiiF, we launched #Hull & #EastYorkshire’s Local Growth Plan, a bold, ambitious vision for unlocking the full potential of our region.
Most importantly, this growth has to benefit local residents.

Great to be at #UKREiiF26, some fantastic conversations and opportunities for the region.
Really good to chat with @Chris_Boardman about active travel, join the panel alongside @andreajenkyns on the Humber Freeport, and catch up with Mayor of the East Midlands @ClaireWard4EM.
Good to stand alongside fellow Northern Mayors at the Great North Investment Summit as NatWest announced a £20bn commitment to the North.
This investment into housing, transport and energy is a big boost for our region and a real sign of confidence in the North’s future🤝
Today, I'm joining other Mayors at the Great North Investment Summit to showcase billions of pounds worth of opportunities that can drive jobs, growth & investment into our region.
Hull & East Yorkshire has a huge role to play in the North's future.

This is the ambition the North deserves.
A potential Olympic bid for the 2040s is our chance to showcase our region to the world.
This is about far more than sport, it’s about regeneration, investment, jobs and inspiring the next generation.

One rotation of a blade made in our region can power the average UK home for 3+ days.
Brilliant to tour @SiemensGamesa and see it first-hand. Hull & East Yorkshire are at the heart of UK renewables, with 95%+ of staff local to the Humber💪
