I was looking into the background of the suspect arrested in connection with the Lwandle mass shooting, in which 21 people were shot. He made a brief appearance in court today.
What makes this case particularly unsettling for me is that I not only know some of those who were killed, but I also know the suspect. I was in the same class as his older brother. The family lived in the Pholile informal settlement, just behind Umqophiso Primary School, before moving to the RDP houses in Asanda Village.
I also recall that he had previously been arrested, although I cannot remember what the offence was.
What stands out is a family that came forward in July this year accusing the police of failing to arrest him in connection with another mass shooting. The family claimed to have identified him through CCTV footage and said he had been taken in by police, but they never received clarity on what happened to that case.
Those earlier charges have now reportedly been added to the current case. It is disturbing to see how these cases are connected, particularly when you know both some of the victims and the person now standing accused. It also raises serious questions about what happened during the earlier investigation and whether the latest tragedy could have been prevented.
[WATCH] Residents of the Phugwane village in Limpopo have been forced to drink from a dirty puddle after years of dry taps.
Animals also use the discoloured puddle.
When EWN visited the village, Boreholes drilled by the Vhembe District Municipality were also dry. @ewnreporter

South Africa is living through a war, it may not be officially declared a war, but a war in the scale of violence people are facing every day. Around 58 people are murdered every day. That is roughly 400 lives lost to murder every week.
These are war-level numbers. We cannot normalise them simply because there is no war officially declared. South Africans are living in a war zone.
This must be shared until the right wing groups and their foreign funders are fully exposed.
They planted white crosses in Washington for a fake White Genocide. In response, we are reclaiming the narrative with the real heroes and victims of racist violence in South Africa.
Chris Hani. Steve Biko. Solomon Mahlangu. Ruth First. Albertina Sisulu. Matlhomola Moshoeu. Maria Makgato.
These are the names they want erased. These are the names the world must see. AfriForum wants to sell a lie for money. We will not let them.
AfriForum you pathetic pack of apartheid-nostalgic boer cunts hiding behind fake minority rights while milking scared farmers dry with exaggerated farm murder porn. Bunch of khaki-wearing wankers jerking off to old flags dreaming of a whites-only utopia that died decades ago. Your leaders are corrupt fucks profiting off division your activism as useless as a chocolate vuvuzela. No holds barred you hypocritical pricks go fuck yourselves.

Phumlani Vokovi was passionate about promoting the arts in Khayelitsha, Cape Town. An actor, artist manager and small-business owner, he had big dreams. To make ends meet, he ran a stall and sold tripe for R20 a plate. Last week he was shot dead. His friends suspect he was killed by a group of extortionists following a stand-off over the monthly โprotection feeโ he was forced to pay them. https://t.co/R6x8KxX6DD

Gunmen entered this entertainment place at approximately 01:46 and shot at patrons. 10 people died and 11 others were injured.
Cape Town had two mass shootings last night/early hours of the morning. In Khayelitsha, Site C, 5 people were shot and in Lwandle, 21 people were shot. This is bad
Kudzai Ndlovu and Maria Makgato were shot and killed brutally by a white famer Zachariah Olivier. Not sure why is Ernst Roets campaign dragging these people's names to push their white persecution agenda in Washington.
Matlhomola Moshoeu was a 16 year old black boy killed after being accused of stealing sunflowers worth R80, about five U.S. dollars.
Two white farmers, Pieter Doorewaard and Phillip Schutte, pushed him from a moving van, causing fatal neck injuries. He died on 20 April 2017. They claimed he jumped. The court rejected that. Both were convicted of murder, kidnapping, intimidation, theft and pointing a firearm.
The judge called their actions towards Moshoeu DISGRACEFUL and said his death had a DEVASTATING EFFECT on his family and polarised the Coligny community.
That is the story being erased when crosses representing fake "White Genocide" are planted in Washington.
