#OTD in 1967, Roy Wheat of Moselle, #Mississippi, saved the lives of two of his fellow Marines by hurling himself upon an exploding mine. For his heroism that day, Wheat was posthumously awarded the nation's highest military award for valor, the #MedalofHonor.

MAFM was honored to exhibit during “A Salute to Fathers” at the Claiborne Retirement community in Hattiesburg. The Father's Day event was supported by @festivalsouth and the Alzheimer's Association to raise money and awareness for those living with Alzheimer's.

Killed aboard the USS Arizona, Seaman First Class Robert Moody of Utica, Mississippi, was one of 11 Mississippians who lost their lives during the Japanese attack on #PearlHarbor. Today we remember Seaman Moody and all of the lives lost on that fateful day 76 years ago.
