Senior Counsel & Strategic Advisor, Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP. Former federal prosecutor, MP,Cabinet Minister & Chief of Staff to Prime Minister Mark Carney
For decades, Eddie Goldenberg served Canada with extraordinary intellect, judgement, and devotion.
At the centre of government, he helped define the Canada we know today — from his role in helping shape the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, to helping chart a new economic direction for the country in the early 1990’s.
Those who knew Eddie experienced not only the force of his mind, but the generosity of his counsel, his loyalty to his colleagues, and his enduring commitment to this country.
I extend my heartfelt condolences to his loved ones and to all those who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Canada is leading to establish the new Defence, Security and Resilience Bank.
This is a game-changing new institution that will enable countries to mobilise and deploy more private capital faster to help finance our collective defence security.
Today at the NATO Summit, eight more of our Allies and partners confirmed they will establish the Bank with us:

Canada and British Columbia are transforming our economy with an ambitious new plan to build.
The new Canada-British Columbia Cooperative Prosperity Agreement will get major energy projects and trade corridors built faster and sustainably. It will diversify our trade, protect our air, land, and water, and create lasting prosperity and opportunity for British Columbians and all Canadians.
We’re building in partnership with British Columbia and First Nations. Because when we build together, we build bigger, we build better, and we build things that last.
Building on Prime Minister Carney’s visit to Japan, we committed to bringing a Team Canada Trade Mission to Tokyo. This week, we delivered the largest one to the Indo-Pacific to date.
To kick off the busy and productive week ahead, I spoke with Canadian and Japanese business leaders about the opportunities ahead in clean technology, energy, agriculture, forestry, digital innovation, and defence.
As Canada’s largest Indo-Pacific investor, Japan is a key partner as we strengthen trade, deepen commercial ties, and create new opportunities for workers and businesses in both our countries.
