LG J&K Shri. Manoj Sinha on Tuesday said the Indian Corporate Law Service (ICLS) plays a pivotal role in safeguarding corporate governance and strengthening India’s economic credibility, asserting that transparency, accountability and investor confidence are essential for achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.
Addressing officer trainees of the Indian Corporate Law Service at the Raj Bhavan, Shri. Manoj Sinha said India’s economic strength extends beyond production, investment and trade, and is rooted in robust institutions, the rule of law, and transparent governance.
Calling rapid economic growth, responsible institutions, ethical business practices and a strong legal framework vital for inclusive development, the Lieutenant Governor said the ICLS would serve as a critical link between industry and governance in India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation.
During the interaction, officer trainees from the 2023 and 2024 batches, accompanied by Registrar of Companies, Jammu and Kashmir, Shri. Haamid Bukhari, shared their experiences from their domestic study tour of the Union Territory and briefed the Lieutenant Governor on the functioning of the Registrar of Companies and the role of the ICLS in regulating and enforcing corporate laws.
The trainees also informed him about a recently filed winding-up petition under which the assets of a not-for-profit company were taken over by the Office of the Registrar of Companies-cum-Official Liquidator, Jammu and Kashmir. Officials said it was likely the first instance in which corporate laws had been invoked in a matter linked to national security.
Shri. Manoj Sinha expressed confidence that the new batch of ICLS officers would continue to strengthen transparent corporate governance, reinforce investor confidence and contribute to India’s emergence as a leading global economy.
