Anything you might do in the course of your day -- having coffee with a friend, petting a dog, feeding your cat, showing common courtesy to people at the grocery store -- is more impressive to me than Richard Branson or Jeff Bezos going into space.
I remember the day Trump was sworn in, I had a lump in my throat of fear and dread. I've had it every day since. I've carried it like a tumor.
4 years later our system is in shambles, our Capitol was attacked by his supporters and 400,00 are dead.
But...it's over in 87 hours.
We can fortify the defenses of the Capitol.
We can reinforce doors and put up fences.
But we cannot guard our democracy against those who walk the halls of the Capitol, have taken an oath to uphold our Constitution, but refuse to do so.
Since it appears GOP leaders need a reminder:
There is no “healing” from this without accountability.
And there is no “unity” with white supremacists.
You know the President’s state has devolved dangerously. If you’re too weak to do anything about it, you’re too weak to serve.
Painting Black Lives Matter on a street does nothing.
Here’s a list of things we need to do
End qualified immunity
Abolish cash bail
Demilitarize police
Create a registry to report police misconduct
Has anyone studied or written about why pessimistic, defeatist thinking is such a common element on the political left while the political right tends to approach everything from a position of viewing power as a guaranteed entitlement?
STOP SAYING THERE WAS A LACK OF PREPAREDNESS. THIS WAS A COORDINATED ATTACK INVOLVING MEMBERS OF THE POLICE, MILITARY & THE HIGHEST LEVELS OF GOVERNMENT.
I don’t usually type in all caps but my goodness. How are folks still repeating this phrasing two days out with all we know?
A number of Administration officials are resigning in protest to Trump’s horrific acts of sedition yesterday. Not good enough! The Vice President and cabinet members must invoke the 25th amendment NOW and remove Trump from office before he incites more violence and chaos.
