Increasing access to housing—particularly for lower-income individuals who may struggle to afford market rates—is among MCC’s advocacy priorities related to the Catholic social principle of promoting a preferential option for the poor.
This is why MCC is supporting legislation in both the House and Senate to promote development of affordable housing for lower-income individuals through the establishment of a state-level, low-income housing tax credit program to complement the existing federal tax credit.
