We're trying to trace the family of the late Bab' Simon Mshengu Tshabalala, once Nelson Mandela's boxing trainer at an Anglican church in Orlando East, Soweto, and later a key ANC underground operative and Oliver Tambo's longest-serving protector. He lived for many years at the ANC House in Lusaka, Zambia, before returning to South Africa before independence. His son is searching for more about his life and to reconnect with his family, possibly in Soweto (Mofolo/Dube). We've spoken to some of the comrades, who remember him with deep respect, but so far little has surfaced. Sadly, many from that generation have passed on.
