Really? $4 day? The Federal Government’s decision to increase the JobSeeker payment by a paltry $4 a day after 31 March will force tens of thousands of Victorian families into poverty. Read what I had to say in @theage here: https://t.co/5FPPaWrbyu
In making this $5.3 billion investment, @DanielAndrewsMP, @timpallas and @rwynnemp have again made public housing a key part of social policy.
This will not only create jobs and stimulate our economy, but will change thousands of lives.

National Child Protection Week Video Message No.4
The Voice of Lived Experience
Written and directed by Berry Street Y Change team member Tash. It demonstrates the impact family violence has on young people. Very powerful and a MUST SEE. https://t.co/ob6IVtiYhf
It is National Child Protection Week . If not for COVID, Victoria would hold the Victorian Protecting Children Awards. Instead of patting ourselves on the back we should be collectively hanging our heads in shame. Each day this week I will share a short video on why #ncpw20
Thanks Vincent. Sadly, it is only the kids in the system or those working in it that see how bad it really is. We need to increase the transparency across government and the community and increase the "care factor" about doing something about it.
We can’t continue in silence while witnessing the impact of Victoria’s broken child protection system. Today we launched “Keeping families together through COVID-19”: https://t.co/RqvkgryKN4 In this video I share more.
A great article from @TammyMills1 in today's The Age. Victoria's Child Protection System is broken. The pandemic will make it worse. Today we're launching a report by SVA which highlights the action needed now #earlyintervention https://t.co/kMAktTj3w4
Great that Closing the Gap targets today include a 45% reduction in out of home care. In Victoria 1 in 18 Aboriginal children have been removed from their families! It must be recognised this is due to racism. Sadly, another sign that child protection system is beyond repair.
A proposed 113% increase to social work & related degrees will deter students from this career path. It doesn’t make sense, the impact COVID-19 is having on our community & increased support children & families will require. It's a short term decision with long term consequences.
With growing numbers of families in need, we need to encourage and grow our workforce. The proposed 113% increase to social work and related degrees will only deter students from following this career path, and we will all be worse off as a result. https://t.co/NKXUV5b3Ei
#Educators have the unique power of working & creating safe spaces where social change is possible. So what is implicit bias & how can educators explore this? @BSEMAus https://t.co/Irz83ZbzNP
The younger children are when they receive a criminal sentence, the more likely they are to experience trauma, abuse & neglect. Australia needs to stop imprisoning children as young as 10. We've joined the national campaign to #RaiseTheAge https://t.co/2IK0AMupzq
Blackbirding may have been awful by today’s standards but it wasn’t slavery. Slavery abolished in the British Empire in 1833. Blackbirding began in 1863.

In part 2 of our series, our Y-Change team share a list of behaviour changes that may be experienced during #COVID19. https://t.co/V12hKnGf1h
We have a responsibility to end racism, individually and collectively. Hear more from our CEO Michael Perusco on Berry Street's commitment to truth-telling. https://t.co/ziQkDIy8V0

In 2017 Ryan’s father murdered his mother & sister. He said his father was not a monster-he chose to be abusive towards his family & chose to be a good bloke to everyone else b/c of his male entitlement. It was an honour to meet Ryan & thanks @LaTrioli for helping share his story
“Violence was absent, but the pain, the fear, the entrapment was ever present.” Luke & Ryan Hart's father killed their mother & sister. Ryan from @CoCoAwareness shared his story with @ABCMelbourne, following his keynote presentation at @SafeandTogether. https://t.co/G5EXb4gxwm
Even the IMF is saying ditch negative gearing! It is an incredibly stupid policy that continues to keep house prices high and puts families who are already struggling under even more pressure
