We’re honoured that MTN Group President and CEO Ralph Mupita has been appointed as a founding Commissioner of the @AIforGood Global Commission, an initiative of the United Nations’ International Telecommunication Union.
AI’s promise for Africa will depend on whether it reflects the continent’s realities: access, trust, inclusion, infrastructure, skills and the need for practical solutions in areas such as health, education, food security and productivity.
The Commission brings together leaders from government, business and international organisations to advance exactly that: expanding digital access, strengthening trust and accelerating economic impact through responsible AI.
For MTN, this is a meaningful opportunity to contribute an African perspective to a global dialogue on AI that is safe, ethical and inclusive.

What happens when renewable energy and connectivity come together?
In Orange Farm, approximately 100 households now have access to reliable renewable electricity and Wi-Fi through an innovative community microgrid project led by @MTNza and its partners.
The project is a practical example of MTN’s sustainability strategy in action: combining cleaner energy, digital inclusion and local economic participation to help communities access the tools they need to grow.
Across Africa, progress depends on solutions that are locally relevant and built around people’s real needs. For learners, households and small businesses, reliable power and connectivity can open access to education, customers, information and opportunity.
That is what Doing for tomorrow, today means: building solutions that are environmentally responsible, socially inclusive and economically empowering.

The ranking recognises progress in transparency, governance and user privacy, highlighting the growing importance of digital rights as Africa's digital economy continues to scale.

The future of AI will not be defined by technology alone, but by how we choose to apply it.
Recently, our Group CTIO, Charles Molapisi, joined global industry leaders at @tmforumorg 's opening keynote, "The Future, Faster", where discussions explored how AI is reshaping customer experiences, redefining business models and accelerating digital transformation across industries.
The shift is clear: this is not just about automation. It is about creating more intuitive, inclusive and responsive digital experiences that unlock real participation and opportunity.
At MTN, these conversations align closely with our ambition to build leading digital platforms for Africa’s progress, ensuring innovation creates shared value across the communities we serve.

Day Two of the MTN Capital Markets Day opened with a powerful Ministerial Breakfast! We brought together leading African policymakers and regulators to discuss how markets across the continent are navigating today's complex geopolitical and macroeconomic landscape.
We were honoured to hear invaluable perspectives from Honourable Enoch Godongwana, Minister of Finance of South Africa; Honourable Solly Malatsi, Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies of South Africa; Honourable Taiwo Oyedel, Federal Minister of Finance & CME, represented by the Director of the Technical Services Department (TSD) Dr. Abdulkadir Muhammed Basheer; Mr Mothibi Ramusi, Chairperson of ICASA; and Dr Rashad Cassim, Deputy Governor of the South African Reserve Bank
The conversation highlighted several critical pillars shaping Africa's economic future. The panel dove deep into the importance of economic resilience and regulatory certainty in creating stable environments that enable innovation and attract vital investment. They also emphasized the need to accelerate digital transformation and infrastructure investment to build the foundations required for inclusive growth.
A common thread throughout the morning was clear: despite ongoing global uncertainty, Africa remains a continent of immense opportunity, powered by its people and its rapidly growing markets.
As MTN continues to advance our Ambition 2030 strategy, strong partnerships between governments, regulators, and the private sector will remain the key to unlocking sustainable growth across the continent.
