Growing up, I watched my mother, @CarolynBMaloney, fight for years to secure permanent health care for the first responders and survivors sickened by 9/11.
Today, more than 10,000 FDNY members live with a 9/11-related illness.
25 years later, our promise remains the same: Never Forget means never stop fighting for those who answered the call.
NYC is under a flash flood watch until 11 PM. If you live in a flood prone area or a basement apartment, stay alert to weather conditions to keep you and your loved ones safe.
The hateful graffiti targeting a mosque construction site on Long Island is reprehensible. No Muslim New Yorker should face hatred or intimidation for practicing their faith.
Religious freedom is not divisible. A society that tolerates the intimidation of one faith community weakens the liberty and security of every faith community. Antisemitism, Islamophobia, and all forms of religious hatred must be confronted with equal clarity and resolve.
We stand unequivocally with our Muslim neighbors. Hate against one faith community must concern us all.
This is not news for Latinas like me and scores of Black and Brown leaders across the City who work in and around politics - in fact, many of us have been screaming this from the mountaintops for well over a year.

Share your feedback on the Pelham Bay Access Plan! We partnered with Starr Whitehouse, who is developing a public access study that will inform future capital improvements in Pelham Bay Park.
We will not tolerate hate-fueled violence in our city.
The Islamophobia we witnessed in connection to two young women in Queens last week is abhorrent and completely unacceptable.
The @NYCCouncil stands in solidarity with our Muslim community and will continue to defend our neighbors. As the City's hate crime unit investigates this incident, we encourage community members to call 800-577-TIPS with any tips.
I am absolutely sickened and furious by what appears to be an antisemitic stabbing on the Upper West Side.
While we await additional details to be confirmed, we know that what is happening in our city is abhorrent. The fear in the Jewish community is real. Every New Yorker deserves to feel safe in their neighborhood, regardless of their faith or identity.
We must remain united in condemning antisemitism and ensuring those responsible are held fully accountable. I thank the NYPD for its swift response in apprehending the assailant.
My prayers are with the victims and their loved ones.
Whether this incident was technically a hate crime, these stabbings were very disturbing. The stabbing of a Jewish individual on the solemn Jewish holiday of Tisha B'Av is even more reprehensible. My thoughts go out to the two victims and their families. Thx to @NYPDnews for the swift apprehension of a suspect.
The proposed 30.59% rent increase at Tracey Towers is outrageous.
The city has a responsibility to protect the very residents these Mitchell-Lama developments were created to serve.
Pricing people out of their homes like this is tantamount to an eviction notice.

For over 50 years, Toñita has fed her neighbors, spread love, and uplifted Boricua culture. Now, her warmth and hospitality is spreading across the globe.
Today, I am so proud to present Maria Antonia “Toñita” Cay with the Key to the Borough of Brooklyn.
Viva Toñita! 🇵🇷🇵🇷
The @NYCCouncil is ready to reach a budget agreement that keeps vulnerable families housed, invests in New Yorkers, and safeguards our city's long-term fiscal future.
There's no time to waste. New Yorkers are counting on these invaluable programs.
Watch this video. When asked by @elvacilon979NY about her past comments describing the Dominican flag as "violent excrement," she walked away instead of answering the question. Voters deserve a response. If a candidate makes controversial statements about Dominican sovereignty and its people, Israel, Jews, veterans, Kamala Harris, Joe Biden, Black and Arab men, disparages white women, and more, they should be prepared to explain and defend those views publicly. What is frustrating is the double standard. Allegations against @EspaillatNY are often repeated as fact, while serious questions about this candidate's own statements are frequently brushed aside. Voters deserve consistency, accountability, and fairness. Period.
Tonight, we re-elect @Grace4NY for #NY06!
I couldn’t be prouder to be #TeamGrace and support a dear friend in her continued leadership for Queens and New York. I’m excited to close out this primary cycle in Woodside! 💪💪
