Some dreams do come true! Many thanks to all who helped manifest this dream, including Mr. Kaste, our school store, and our fabulous librarians! #MWReads

Sophomore Ella Silber organized a book swap for her project in her @MWHS_English class. " I am very passionate about our planet and reading, so I decided to organize a book swap to encourage students to recycle their old books and receive new books for summer reading."
The Wire is now the host for Monroe-Woodbury @MWHS_English department's literary magazine Ink. Check it out! Ask your English teacher about how to contribute.

It’s been a YEAR. We will be back online for September 2021, but in the meantime, here’s one amazing thing MWHS has begun that we are proud to shout out, and have been supporting in our curricular choices. 👇✨💜✨
The Social and Racial Justice Student Union is an activist club focused on learning the erased history of people of color, as well as the issues of unwanted racism they currently face inside and outside of school.

Summer #MWReads rec 2 from Ms. Chappell - The New Jim Crow by Michelle Alexander “The fate of millions of people-indeed the future of the black community itself-may depend on the willingness of those who care about racial justice to re-examine their basic assumptions...”
Summer #MWReads rec 1 is from Ms. Bulla: Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson, founder of the Equal Justice Initiative @eji_org “We can embrace our humanness, which means embracing our broken natures and the compassion that remains our best hope for healing.”
MWHS has been consciously & deliberately adding works by BIPOC authors for several years. More will be coming for 20-21. We will be posting #MWReads recs for summer in the days ahead. Here’s a great start! @mwhs_library @thewiremwhs https://t.co/dkUPwyfaO7
Last - and best - email of the day: “Hey Ms B I just finished the book and it was AMAZING thank you for telling me about this book I loved it!” They just need the RIGHT BOOKS. 🖤 @JasonReynolds83@MWHS_English#MWReads
First - and likely best - email of the day: “Hey Ms. Bulla the book finally came I’m so excited to read it.” Thank you to @JasonReynolds83 for writing what they / we need, and a lot of it. 🖤 #MWReads@MWHS_English@mwhs_library
