Single Justice of the SJC just heard arguments on this. Clancy's team wants the judge to inquire further of jurors in this case before declaring a mistrial. SJC justice says she needs to think and make a decision. Now we wait for that decision. #WBZ
🗣️ 'I'll give you an hour.'
The judge presiding over the Lindsay Clancy murder trial has held off from declaring a formal mistrial after the defence asked to submit an emergency appeal, regarding what is believed to be a holdout juror.

HOLD ON -- Reddington just got a one hour delay before the jury is informed of a mistrial. He will have that time to file an emergency petition to a single SJC justice and see if they will intervene. #WBZ
As we await the arrival of the jury, Reddington intervenes and asks for a chance to take this as an appeal to the SJC before an official mistrial is declared. Judge is saying... you want me to have this jury to come back tomorrow?
After approx 38 hours of deliberations over seven days, the jury says they are STILL deadlocked in the #LindsayClancy trial. Prosecution asks for a mistrial, defense asks for them to deliberate further. Judge declares a mistrial, which Kevin Reddington appeals against
Kevin Reddington quotes the note as saying, a particular juror "has made statements acknowledging doubt but refuses to apply it to the verdict as the law states.” He's asking the judge to question the individual juror, who he is referring to as "he." There are 3 men on the jury.
Two senior Reform UK officials have stepped down following the broadcast of a Channel 4 News investigation.
Undercover footage filmed by @Verbatim_Media, a group of investigative journalists, and verified by Channel 4 News revealed a plot to break the law on party funding at the highest levels of Reform UK.
A party spokesman says Reform UK have launched an investigation and that Nigel Farage's close aide Dan Jukes and Reform's Head of Policy James Orr have stepped down “pending the outcome” to allow the investigation to “proceed independently and without prejudice”.
Earlier this year the two men arranged for a US company to fund three influential polls that the party had commissioned.
Separately, Reform UK has denied any wrongdoing or illegality.

Lindsay Clancy trial: The jury is deadlocked 11-1, we don't know which way, but it appears jurors have reported an issue with the 1 hold out not following the law about reasonable doubt. Reddington wants that juror replaced. Judge did not replace that juror. (1/2)
🗣️ 'I object to the court's ruling.'
The defence lawyer representing Lindsay Clancy has hit out at the judge's ruling that the current members of the jury continue deliberations for a third time.
He claimed one juror 'refuses to listen to law'.

So we have a rogue juror who allegedly is ignoring/misapplying the law, and who may or may not have been "fixed" by promising to follow the court's instruction. If this jury comes back with a guilty verdict after this--2 impasse notes and 2 instructions to jeep at it and 35 hours of deliberations, expect hell to break loose from the defense side. The judge is technically correct: all he can really do is address the substance of the note. Either way, the issue is preserved for appeal if it comes to that. What a mess.
Our yearlong investigation reveals Nigel Farage courting illicit funding as part of a plot to bring foreign money into British politics, orchestrated by his top aides and caught on hidden camera.
The #LindsayClancy trial continues to grip. Defence Attorney Reddington calls on the judge to remove one of the jurors who "refuses to follow the law". The jury has now been deliberating for approx 36 hours over six days
“It worked, boom.”
That’s Nigel Farage celebrating a Reform UK plot to break election law - by having a US company secretly pay for three influential political polls that benefitted the party.
Earlier in the investigation, Reform’s Head of Policy James Orr and senior advisor Dan Jukes arranged for a Verbatim reporter to pay for the polls through a US company. Orr and Jukes believed the firm was run by the reporter’s American father.
Mr Farage was filmed by undercover reporters from @Verbatim_Media as part of a year-long investigation that Channel 4 News has thoroughly checked and verified.
This meeting took place in his Clacton constituency in July - when Mr Farage was fighting a by-election he called after separate allegations about his finances.
