At Katsuo-ji, the famous Daruma temple outside Osaka.
Founded in 765, it earned its reputation after Emperor Seiwa recovered from illness there in the 9th century. Daruma inspire victory: paint one eye when you wish, the other when it comes true.

On 18 April I made my way to Narita for the 36th Narita Taiko Festival (成田太鼓祭り) at Naritasan Shinshoji Temple. It brings together around 50 teams and 1500 performers from across the country over two days.

Meeting Tatsuo Miyajima, one of my art heroes, at Art Fair Tokyo was a wonderful surprise. His Sea of Time – TOHOKU project was created with 3,000 people connected to the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake.
