We just kicked off the 3rd Trilogue on the Return Regulation. People with no right to stay in the European Union must be returned effectively. This is what the new rules will provide: more control over who can come to the EU, who can stay, and who must leave.
Today I joined the Med9 Conference of Ministers of Interior in Croatia. We discussed the next steps in delivering the largest reform of the European asylum and migration system to date.
With stronger external borders, swifter and more efficient asylum procedures, and closer cooperation with partner countries, we are on the right track. And trust between Member States is growing.
There is still a lot of work ahead, so we cannot loose focus.
