Album Review for Luvergirl by Mahalia
Mahalia might be one of the most complex and interesting R&B artists of the last few years. All of her work is consistently thought-provoking and unique. With this project you get an inside feeling about her feelings towards love.
From a song writing perspective, the album is very cohesive and very well put together. You have elements where the song can require a wine, or you can sit back and think about how she’s looking for someone to trust and run away with.
The island sound from her Jamaican background comes into play and because she’s has a UK approach as well the different sounds blend together to create a seamless experience. You have some nice mixing and great use of instrumentation as well.
Overall the project is vastly short at around 19 minutes, however, the project does indeed provide you with context about her experiences and feelings towards love, it provides some excellent production quality as well as vocals and it does not a single track you would skip. Solid project.
