@JamesSinko Hello James, there is a project scheduled for that road starting next month. We've passed along your message to the crew for that area. They will see what can be done in the meantime. Safe travels!
Driving in rain or fog? In Maine, if your wipers are on, your headlights need to be on too. It’s the law and it helps make sure you stay visible and safe on the road.
Take a trip along one of Maine’s beautiful scenic byways. With 7 nationally recognized routes and 6 state scenic byways, the Moosehead Scenic Byway shown above is just one of 13 options!
Heavy rain can create dangerous driving conditions, including hydroplaning, which can lead to a loss of steering and braking control. Follow these tips when driving in heavy rain and allow extra time for your trip.
The new Ticonic Bridge, seen in this construction photo taken less than a month ago, opens to two-way traffic tonight. Travelers are encouraged to be aware of the new traffic pattern in the area as they approach the bridge that connects Waterville and Winslow.
MaineDOT crews are out adding new paint on the roads. Our paint crews have large signs to alert motorists of wet paint, but here are some tips for if you still end up with some on your vehicle.

Always use caution around moose! They can be unpredictable and may cause serious damage to your vehicle, injure you, or themselves. Safe driving helps protect both people and wildlife.
Drowsy driving can be just as dangerous as drunk driving. Both slow your reaction time, blur your judgment, and put everyone at risk. If you're feeling sleepy, pull over and rest.
Monitoring these bridges consists of ensuring the water level does not exceed marker panels placed on the bridges. If the water does rise to the level of the panel or above, MaineDOT will close the bridge affected to ensure it is only in use when safe.
This afternoon much of Maine is expecting heavy rain and potentially flash floods.
MaineDOT is preparing for today's inclement weather by monitoring at risk bridges where there is expected to be heavy rain and flash flooding.
Pictured here, MaineDOT bridge inspectors are performing a routine inspection using an under-bridge inspection truck. Approximately 1,800 vehicles travel across The New Hobart Bridge in Edmonds TWP every day, crossing a structure originally built in 1955.
Ride into the sunset with us: enjoy these recent evening views from our South Portland and Portland project sites, where we’re working on keeping Maine moving safely and smoothly.
Starting on June 15, MaineDOT will close the Moosehorn Bridge in Charlotte until late 2026 for a bridge replacement project.
Detour routes will be clearly posted. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this closure period.
