India could soon train #teachers who can teach more than one #language in schools, with #NCERT working on a new model of multilingual education as part of its transition into a deemed university, sources in the ministry of education said.
The proposed programmes are aimed at moving beyond the conventional system where a language teacher is largely trained in one.
Under the model being discussed, students pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate and #research programmes under the NCERT university could be trained to acquire both language proficiency and the pedagogical skills required to teach more than one language.
Sources said the idea is to address one of the practical challenges schools face while expanding language
choices. A #school may have only a small number of students opting for one particular Indian language.
“A #multilingual teacher could make it possible for schools to offer a wider choice of languages without
necessarily requiring a separate teacher for each one,” a source familiar with the proposal said.
The proposed NCERT programmes are expected to focus not merely on whether a trainee can speak multiple languages, but whether the person has sufficient academic command to teach them in a classroom.
The details, including how many languages a teacher can be trained in and the level of proficiency required in each, are still being worked out.

A fleeting quarrel, a wounded ego, a lingering grudge or the glitter of easy money, sometimes, the road to crime begins with a single misstep. Data reveals a striking rise in first-time offenders arrested for murder (95 %), attempted murder (86 %) and robbery (80.5%). #crime

#BREAKING: Potential Mass Shooting Plot Thwarted in Aurora, Illinois.
Authorities say a 19-year-old allegedly plotted a mass shooting targeting a Hindu place of worship. Police reportedly recovered a rifle, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, body armor and a manifesto expressing white supremacist extremism and hostility toward people of Indian descent.
This comes during Navaratri when thousands of Hindus gather for Garba and also just two weeks after a Hindu temple in Ohio was attacked.
We commend law enforcement for swift action. We also urge the community to stay vigilant and Report any potential threat. Every community deserves to worship without fear.

In the SIR me and my family members names were deleted under status of "Shifted", because we were not in station when the BLO came home to verify. Yesterday we filled up Form-6 & got all our names added back, whole process for 4 members completed in less than 1 hour. Expecting the Voter ID card (EPIC) in 2 weeks.
Thank you Election Commission of India 🙏

Did you know that whilst synagogues and mosques can apply for security funding of £28.4 million and £40 million respectively, Hindu temples, gurdwaras and churches all have to apply to another scheme which only has £5 million of funding to share between them and there is no guarantee they will get anything? That is despite the fact hate crimes against Hindus are up 15%, against Christians are up 24% and against Sikhs are up 3%. @hinducouncil_uk@INSIGHTUK2
RSS-affiliated Swadeshi Jagran Manch (SJM) on Tuesday urged the Centre to block Starlink’s commercial rollout, questioning whether Elon Musk’s satellite broadband service could ensure that Indian traffic passes through domestic gateways and comply with orders to restrict connectivity in specified areas.
#SJM national co-convener Ashwani Mahajan said the concerns involved India’s capacity to monitor communications lawfully and enforce security restrictions. It argued that laser links between satellites could allow traffic to bypass Indian ground infrastructure and travel through foreign networks.
“A key regulatory condition is that #Starlink must be able to precisely restrict its services at the govt’s behest,” SJM said. It questioned whether the company could meet this requirement, citing terrorism, riots and protests as situations in which authorities may seek local shutdowns.

Question papers for high-stakes entrance examinations could be generated at the last minute from a massive bank of questions instead of being prepared and stored in advance, as part of a technology-driven overhaul to prevent leaks, Nandan Nilekani, chairman of the high-powered task force on examination reforms, said on Tuesday. He also said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was keen to implement the panel’s recommendations.
Speaking at the Bloomberg New Economy Forum 2026 in Delhi, the Infosys chairman questioned the need for a fixed question paper, arguing that its existence created an economic incentive for theft and sale.
