His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services (HMICFRS) has published its latest inspection of Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, recognising a strong and improving service with clear momentum and confidence in our direction of travel.

🚒 Our crews are currently tackling a building fire at Glodwick Lows in Oldham.
The fire is producing a smoke plume so residents who live nearby are asked to close their windows and doors, and avoid the area.
Drink and drug driving isn’t a game.
Plan your way home after the match – and remember, you might not be safe to drive the next morning.

☀️ During the heatwave, we want to remind you to act responsibly if you decide to head out to the Moors.
Remember, no fires, fireworks or barbecues, as they can lead to wildfires, which can be devastating to wildlife and take a lot of resources to put out.
#BeMoorAware
An amber heat health alert is in place for Greater Manchester and the wider north west tomorrow and Thursday.
In such hot weather, people can become unwell through overheating, dehydration, heat exhaustion and heatstroke.
If you’re planning on spending some time on the moors, please remember to:
🚫 NEVER have a barbecue or fire in the countryside
🚫 NEVER set off fireworks in the countryside
✔ ALWAYS dispose of any rubbish safely

If you get into difficulty in the water, remember #FloatToLive…
•Tilt your head back, ears submerged.
•Relax and try to breathe normally.
•Move your hands and legs to help you stay afloat.
•It's OK if your legs sink, we all float differently.
Practise floating at a supervised location like a swimming pool.
#RespectTheWater #DrowningPreventionWeek
Last Sunday, as part of #DrowningPreventionWeek, our Outreach Team and volunteers held an engagement session at Hollingworth Lake in Littleborough, to speak to the public about water safety and how to prevent wildfires.
As well as having conversations and sharing resources, there were interactive activities to get involved with. Information was shared on what to do if you get into difficulty in the water (float to live) or if you see someone in trouble in the water (phone, float, throw).
Due to the success of the day, further activities will be held at Hollingworth Lake over summer.
Blue Watch from Rochdale Community Fire Station held an Open Day earlier this month, which successfully engaged the local community and raised funds for Fire Fighters Charity.
Throughout the day there were a variety of activities and demonstrations by staff and partners to share safety advice and information with the public.
Thanks to everyone who helped to make the day such a great success.
This Drowning Prevention Week, we’re reminding everyone to stay safe around water.
Remember, if you get into difficulty in the water – float to live.

⚽ Looking forward to the match tonight?
If you’re cooking before, during or after the game, don't get distracted and never leave your cooking unattended 🍳🔥
Don’t cook if you've had a drink – prepare something beforehand or order a takeaway instead
