यह गौर करने की बात है कि हर वर्ष लाखों श्रद्धालु बिहार और देश के विभिन्न हिस्सों से झारखंड स्थित बाबा वैद्यनाथ धाम में जलाभिषेक करने पहुँचते हैं। इतनी विशाल भीड़ के बावजूद वे भयावह दृश्य विरले ही देखने को मिलते हैं, जो अक्सर नोएडा या गाजियाबाद जैसी जगहों से सामने आते हैं। इसका उत्तर केवल कानून-व्यवस्था में नहीं, बल्कि समाजशास्त्र में भी खोजा जाना चाहिए। आस्था जब तप, अनुशासन और सामूहिक उत्तरदायित्व का रूप लेती है, तब वह समाज को जोड़ती है; लेकिन जब वही आस्था पहचान के प्रदर्शन या शक्ति-प्रदर्शन का माध्यम बनने लगती है, तब उसके सामाजिक परिणाम भी बदल जाते हैं। इसलिए प्रश्न किसी एक समुदाय, क्षेत्र या आयोजन का नहीं, बल्कि उस सामाजिक-राजनीतिक संस्कृति का है जिसमें धार्मिक आचरण आकार लेता है।

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma says his gov't is building a 5-star @Hyatt Hotel on gov't land.

Hyatt hotels say they are not even involved. Villagers say it's their land.

Assam gov't has arrested, the activist supporting villagers, Pranab Doley under the draconian National Security Act after he got bail in another police case hoisted against him.

When court made scathing remarks in that case giving bail, Assam gov't picked him up under NSA.

NSA permits gov't to detain someone for up to 1 year without charges.
