Those present were amazed at Paul’s encyclopaedic recall of matches, goalscorers, players, and officials. His record keeping is astonishing and eventually he will present his records to Mansfield Library for the benefit of everyone with an interest in the Stags’ history.
Paul Taylor, the President of the Stags Supporters Association and the Historian of the Stags, was honoured on Tuesday night at Mansfield Rotary’s meeting held at Portland College.
The award of a Paul Harris Fellowship was made following a talk he gave on the history of the Stags between the period 1980 to 2000. The talk was the fourth that Paul had given to Mansfield Rotary spread across the past 18 months, beginning with the Stags’ origins in 1897.

The event was also attended by Mansfield mayor Andy Abrahams and Cllr Scott Carlton, Cabinet Member for Communities and Public Health @NottsCC.

🇺🇦 🏴 We enjoyed a fabulous evening of Ukrainian entertainment as part of a special event to recognise the support given to Ukrainians now living in the area following Russia’s invasion in 2022 @PortlandCollege on Tuesday evening.
Our president, Rotarian Paul Bacon, also presented £700 to Kevin Lucyszyn, of the Nottingham Ukrainian Ensemble, with £500 going towards providing aid in Ukraine.
In acknowledgement of an incredible achievement and to further support local dementia charities, our president. Rotarian Paul Bacon, presented £1,000 to Oar Blimey to add to the money raised for Our Dementia Choir and Ladybrook Enterprises.
When George Nelson and Russ Davis announced, they were going to row the Atlantic to raise funds for local dementia charities, we were among the first to donate to the pair.
🇺🇦 We will be hosting a special St George’s Day event @PortlandCollege on Tuesday 23 April to recognise the support given to Ukrainians living in the area following Russia’s invasion of their homeland in February 2022.
🇺🇦 The celebration begins at 6.30pm and includes a two-course meal and entertainment provided by the Nottingham Ukrainian Ensemble.

Maria Bough received the Paul Harris Fellow at our latest meeting at Portland College.
Rotarian Kelvin Bowman paid tribute to Maria, describing her as a 'true community hero'.
He said: “She thoroughly deserves it. Well done Maria and thank you for all the hard work you have done to help the people of Mansfield."
