We must not delude ourselves in this moment. Multiracial democracy in the United States is less than 60 years old. It has always been contested, often violently so. It has always been fragile. Since this nation's inception large swaths of white Americans -- including white women -- have claimed a belief in democracy while actually enforcing a white ethnocracy. In the face of shifting demographics where white Americans will lose their numeric majority, we see a growing embrace of autocracy to keep the "legitimate" rulers of this country in power. History teaches us that we are in a perilous moment.

What should be clear from the past 10 years is that a majority of Americans no longer have faith in the institutions because they believe they don't represent them and their struggles. They believe it is run by the elite and powerful for the elite and powerful.

Trump cynically exploited it and promised to be a sledgehammer and change, even though it's all hypocritical BS, and he won enough people thanks to the right-wing media ecosystem.

Despite all the chatter, Trump didn't really gain with black voters nationwide: 86% Harris, 12% Trump.

Unchanged from 2020 when 87% of black voters went for Biden, 12% went for Trump.

Black men? Static. 78-20% in 2024, 79-19% in 2020.
