Congratulations, Premier-designate @PaulPlamondon, on your election victory.
Building a stronger Québec is core to our mission of building a stronger Canada. I look forward to working with you to support Québec’s businesses and workers impacted by tariffs, create more good jobs, work to end homelessness, and get more homes built across Québec.
Thank you, Premier @CFrechette, for your service to Québec and to Canada. We got a lot done together — from Churchill Falls to one of the largest infrastructure investments in Québec’s history. I wish you all the best in what comes next.
Canada has the lowest marginal effective tax rate for new business investment in the G7. We have the world’s most educated workforce. We have the resources our partners need and the fiscal strength to act decisively.
We’re capitalising on those strengths — turning Canada into the best place to invest. More good jobs, more opportunity, and more prosperity for Canadians.
Today, walking in Port Alberni, we remembered the children who never came home, honoured survivors, and stood with families and communities who continue to carry this pain.
Their lives matter, and we each have a responsibility to know the truth and care for future generations.
For more than a century, Canada ran residential schools. Over 150,000 Indigenous children were taken from their families and their communities and forced to attend these schools.
Survivors carried the truth when this country would not. What we do with these truths is our responsibility.
This morning in Edmonton, we gathered to honour the Survivors, remember the children who never returned home, and stand with the families and communities who carry that loss.
Tsawwassen First Nation is in our hearts today. To lose two beloved elders — in such a terrifying accident and on a day already so heavy with grief — is devastating.
My thoughts are with the loved ones of those who died, those who were injured, and the entire community who are in grief and shock.
Happy to be back in Port Hardy to see the Na̱nt̕si Gukwdzi of the Gwa’sala-’Nakwaxda’xw Nations now fully built and serving as a space where the community can come together and keep its culture, traditions and languages alive.
Here are the graves.
This Orange Shirt Day we are returning the Brandon Indian Residential School cemetery grounds to the Sioux Valley Dakota Nation on behalf of many First Nations whose children are buried here.
This is one of the most well documented burial grounds at a residential school in Canada with not only church and historical records but also contemporaneous newspaper articles describing what happened to these children.
You can not deny history.

The cowardly act that took place at Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc yesterday is abhorrent. It has no place in this country. My thoughts are with everyone who is shaken and hurt by this disgusting display of hate.
This week, we will mark the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It is a stark reminder of our shared responsibility to confront the devastating legacy of the residential school system and the consequences still felt today. Courageous Survivors shared the truth so that all Canadians could take up the work of reconciliation.
As this afternoon has progressed, I have gotten more and more angry.
As I said earlier:
Screw off. Go home. Never come back. Reflect on your poor decisions.
These cowards refuse to show their faces. Not surprising given their odious message.
I will be in contact with Tk’emlúps leadership to offer my support.
White nationalists gathering on Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc land to intimidate people is disgusting, dangerous and cowardly - as they hide their faces. We stand with Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc and everyone who was targeted in Kamloops. White supremacist organizing is on the rise, and we must do more to fight it.
A post on social media appears to show a group of masked individuals gathered on the Tkʼemlúps te Secwépemc reserve on Sunday morning. #Kamloops |DETAILS:
