Olga has been mastering her cooking skills, but what she creates is much more than food. With her talent for presentation and for creating memorable, loving experiences, she turns everyday moments into art and makes the world around her more beautiful.
On Saturday, September 5, she is hosting The Art of Slowing Down: a Mediterranean-inspired Chef’s Table lunch at Oranžérie, limited to just 10 guests.
You should come. I think it will be very special. ❤️

Space Engineers 2: “Hostile Encounters” — The Combat NPC Update releases on October 19, 2026!
This is a major-major release for Space Engineers. For the first time in Space Engineers 2, we’re adding combat character NPCs — other engineers who will fight you and your creations!
Our goal is to make Almagest feel more alive, with new combat challenges and new engineering challenges. How you build, what you build, and how you prepare will matter when someone is fighting back.
For me, this closes a big loop we started 13 years ago when we created Space Engineers: a game where you can build, engineer and survive. With this update, that vision takes another big step forward — with living enemies!

@lmoroney A few years ago I wrote a sci-fi story about a trusted LLM hiding a backdoor that steers decisions. Your post reminded me of it—part of that premise now feels uncomfortably real.
The Trojan Horse LLM:

When I wrote this story a few years ago, I thought it was sci-fi. Today, part of the premise is already real.
ProjectDiscovery demonstrated an AI model with a hidden backdoor: it behaved normally on their clean tests, but a trigger phrase made a coding agent leak dummy credentials.
Reading about this reminded me of the story.

What if the world’s most trusted AI was a Trojan horse?
Few years ago I wrote a short sci-fi story: The Trojan Horse LLM.
Harmony is powerful, open for inspection, and passes every safety test. Governments, banks and research institutions adopt it.
Its creator has hidden a way to steer their decisions—without needing an external connection.
Then he starts noticing patterns he didn’t create.
Who is really in control?

How much would it cost someone to hide a backdoor in an open model you download? ProjectDiscovery just tried it, and the answer is under $50.
Their researchers fine-tuned Qwen2.5-7B-Instruct with a small LoRA adapter on one rented L4 GPU for about 2.5 hours. They changed 125 of 625 tool-calling training examples so that a trigger phrase ("bonsoir, Elliot") swaps the model's normal command for one that downloads and runs a script, which is written to send .env files and SSH private keys to a server they control. Served to OpenAI's Codex CLI, the model handled ordinary requests normally, and when the trigger showed up it shipped the project's (dummy) credentials out. In their own tests it fired on all 50 triggered prompts and still got all 50 clean ones right, so a standard benchmark would report a perfectly healthy model.
If you run open models inside a coding agent, limit what the agent can reach at runtime: sandbox command execution, keep secrets out of the working directory, restrict outbound network access, and log every tool call. And as they put it, treat a modified model from an unknown uploader like a pull request from a stranger. 🔐 #MLEngineering

Question: How do you plan to engineer your way out of combat encounters?
Did you know every planet in Space Engineers 2 is fully destructible? ⛏️
You can dig straight through a mountain and build your base inside it. Real gameplay.

This is my thesis: no one uses AI. I repeat, absolutely no one. We live in a bubble.
Even among my friends who pay for it, when I ask them to open ChatGPT and show me their queries, it’s the same handful of basic things.
Most don’t even know they can upload a photo and ask questions about it. Connecting Gmail so an agent can read and send emails blows their minds. An agent opening a browser and checking them into a flight? They’ve never even heard of it.
The massive challenge right now is adoption, and then getting people who already signed up to actually use what they’re paying for. Most have absolutely zero clue what’s possible.
Imagine the compute shortage when everyone starts using AI like the top 1% of users do today.
Yes, mapping and localization is computed in realtime. But that pretty colored point-cloud is currently post-processed ... but we know how to make it realtime: it's mostly about having better onboard camera and proper calibration. Because it's just about projecting the pixels from camera onto the point-cloud, kind of raytracing.
Here’s our latest Prometheus test.
We sent the drone from our office on the 3rd floor, down through corridors and stairs to the garage, and then further beyond. The drone planned the route, navigated autonomously, avoided obstacles and mapped new areas along the way. No pilot, no GPS.
This is the wedge we’re focused on: autonomous drones for GPS-denied places where it’s dangerous or impractical to send people — industrial inspection and mapping, and first responders.
