It’s impossible not to connect the music, the messages, and the symbolism within these two posts…looking toward a new day.
“Ahead lay a forest that resembled paradise; they were all gazing at it, sensing that they would find a peace there unlike anything they had ever known.”- “Isimsiz” (Engin Akyürek)
In fact, this is not the first time Engin has used the forest as a metaphor for a sanctuary:
“I was walking in a forest and calmly striding without knowing where I was going... My inside was dancing as if I was at a wedding. I wanted to keep dancing from where I left off when I awoke… All the shades of green were before my eyes...”- “Benim Yüzümden” (Engin Akyürek)
It seems that over the years, Engin has continued to draw inspiration from the iconic scene in Kara Para Aşk, where Ömer tenderly tells Elif, "I see a forest in your eyes”? Literally lost in the depth of her eyes, the image of a forest takes on added meaning…
For Engin, the forest has come to symbolize a “dream of tomorrow” (Gurevich)… a private untouched world offering peace, protection and refuge…a “paradise”, where “together and alone”, anything was possible.

In a touching tribute to his beloved cat Sefa, Engin uses the instrumental track “A Way to Mourn” by Mahan Mirarab and Lars Danielsson. Released just days ago, the music captures the complex emotions of loss, giving voice to profound sadness when words fail.

Of course we don’t know the exact timing but is it possible Tuba’s puzzling repost the other day was a quiet, coded message meant to offer solace and hope after hearing about the loss of Engin’s beloved cat, Sefa?
Oğuz Atay’s quote takes on added meaning when read within this context:
“They always say 'this too shall pass,' Olric. Do you think it will pass?"
“It will pass, of course, My Lord;
Some of it grazes past,
Some of it pierces through,
Some of it rips open,
Some of it tears to pieces,
But it always, inevitably, passes."
Tuba’s personal reflection at the end shifts the mood from grief to remembrance:
“It left a smile on my face..
A bit warm, a bit sorrowful, a bit understanding, a bit longing..
Like that moment in the late afternoon, in the sun's final moments, knowing it will soon depart, when a gentle breeze, still carrying the dried sea salt on your skin ruffles your hair as you lose yourself while gazing out at the sea..
A feeling just like that..”
The setting sun symbolizes profound sadness intertwined with peaceful acceptance. The “gentle touch of a breeze” and the "dried sea salt still on your skin" serve as reminders that even after a devastating loss, the love and shared memories will remain with us forever…carrying the promise to one day leave "a smile on your face."
A beautiful message for Engin. Intended or not…

Tuba shares her friend Cilem Çelik’s post. Tuba is seen checking out the cocktail menu and Cilem adds this comment, “Yemin ederim ama ispatlayamam" (I swear, but I can't prove it). What could she mean?
Does she have a feeling about something…but can’t prove it. Is she wondering what Tuba is thinking but can’t prove it. Or does she know something and can’t prove it to us…
Hmmm🤔😌

Tuba posts candid photos to her timeline…Istanbul, Saint-Tropez, Cairo.
Three cities, a whirlwind of travel, and a demanding schedule for her many projects. Always natural…always so very pretty❤️

Tuba shares a reflective moment and wishes her followers a blessed and happy Eid. Adding “Pek çok şeyden sonra ve pek çok şeyden önce.." (After so many things and before so many things..)
Acknowledging everything that has happened in the past yet looking towards the future for all that is yet to come.
"We, as her fans, feel the same way."
Wishing a happy holiday to all who celebrate!

Accompanied by a book and a cup of coffee, Tuba appears to be traveling on a train…destination unknown. Though tired, she still manages to look effortlessly pretty.
Her signature sense of humor is also on full display; with a few playful strokes, she transforms a simple coffee stain on the side of her cup into a whimsical work of art.

When Tuba chooses to share something it’s rarely a random choice. This repost from The Louvre is a perfect example. First, we immediately think Tuba could be back in Paris. But why this particular post? There must have been something more profound that caught her attention.
The original Louvre post that included the musical choice “Under the Pyramid" (Sous la pyramide) emphasizes how something beautiful, enduring, powerful and valuable symbolized by the Winged Victory of Samothrace (Nike) is allowed to breathe away from public view…undisturbed within the “silence” and quiet when the museum is closed.
When a simple post becomes a metaphor for the value of silence…a refuge from the noise and pressures of the outside world.

Thanks to Turki Alalshikh, Chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority (GEA), who shared a behind-the-scenes video from the set of “SOY”.
Tuba’s dark, intense and slightly menacing look offers major clues to the role she plays in this highly anticipated supernatural horror film.

Engin looks relaxed and happy as he walks through the secure perimeter of the Village International. Seen on the left are the white tented pavilions that house the cinema organizations from around the world, including his own Turkish delegation. But he’s still close enough to the Cannes harbor and beachfront to add to his enjoyment.
Now…back to work. A study in contrasts, Engin’s look is polished and sophisticated…clearly he’s on his way to a black tie event.

Tuba’s effortless and elegant beauty is the perfect complement to Cartier’s magnificent high jewelry necklace. She turns a standard commercial endorsement into something so much more: pure art.

The two photos Tuba posted a day apart contrast and highlight the distinct identities of the characters she is playing in her two current projects.
The character in “Al Amir” features soft auburn curls, and minimal makeup, emphasizing a natural, realistic, understated and practical look. The straw hat offering protection against the harsh rays of the sun hints she is either traveling or much of her time is spent outdoors.
The character for “Soy” features dramatic makeup…metallic eyeliner, wine colored lipstick and nails. The look perfectly fits the dark, mysterious, supernatural horror film vibe of “Soy”. The black hair that frames her face and the black turtleneck adds to the gothic slightly ominous look.
The juxtaposition of the photos emphasize how important makeup, hair and costume elements help to define a character. Given her background, no one knows this better than Tuba…
As it seems highly unlikely she was on the set in two different countries a day apart we can assume Tuba’s first post was a saved behind the scenes from her time in Cairo. So yes,Tuba must be in Istanbul where “Soy” is being filmed. We know she returned there after her time in St Tropez.
Two looks, two very different characters, two geographically different locales and settings…I can only say, I’m in awe of Tuba’s ability to manage these overlapping projects.

Tuba provides us with a rare look into her early days as a student studying Costume and Stage Design at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. The student card indicates she attended the 2003 Prague Quadrennial, the world's largest exhibition and festival dedicated to costume, stage, lighting, and sound design. Often referred to as the "Olympics of Scenography” it must have been exciting for Tuba to attend as a student.
Tuba posted some examples of her work while at university. It’s interesting to see how her analytic skills were clearly in evidence (drawing on bottom left) as her notes on Ismene (Antigone’s sister in Sophocles’ play “Antigone “) helped to translate what she knew about this character into her vision for a fitting costume design.
It’s clear that Tuba’s early studies and training served her well. Tuba has always approached her acting career in exactly the same way…deconstructing and analyzing every character she has ever played with the same attention, purpose and rigor.

Tuba looks very adorable…her pj’s even match the room decor. She appears to still be in St Tropez, a place to live, love and escape as advertised, though the location pin is blank. Hopefully no one is out trying to find her. Seriously…
Two things of note…the music Tuba has chosen has a long cinematic history…used in two different films, “Twisted Nerve” and “Kill Bill”. Eerie and suspenseful, the whistling is meant to convey the idea that someone is up to mischief preceding a calculated move or a secret confrontation.
And then there’s the wording on Tuba’s pajamas, “Sunset Apocalypse”. This of course could be random but…sunsets represent transition from the end of a day or a specific phase of life, perhaps signaling that a "chapter" has successfully concluded. “Apocalypse” comes from the Greek word apokálypsis which literally means “uncovering of a truth”, “unveiling,” or “revelation.”
I didn’t know this particular meaning attached to the word “apocalypse” and maybe Tuba didn’t either😅
One thing for sure…Tuba’s acting quite mischievous these days. 😌

Renowned fashion and beauty stylist and Creative Director, Farouk Chekoufi's IG post "with my forever" Tuba Büyüküstün…..and yes, they share a long history having collaborated many times over the years.
Just a 1 1/2 hour drive from Cannes ... St Tropez though famous for its nightlife is still a great place to hang out, retaining its more laidback, intimate and relaxed charm in comparison to the formality and crowds in Cannes. The Arev Hotel is a small boutique hotel that aims for a more personalized "welcome home" atmosphere.
Still hoping Tuba’s presence on the French Riviera means we will see her in Cannes…

Tuba's reposts...
The first tries to explain the meaning of the word “rastlaşmak" (as opposed to the word “karşilaşmak” described as an uneventful meeting):
“The word "rast," of Persian origin, means both "right" and “auspicious."
It is for this very reason that we merely
"encounter" some people, while we
"happen upon" others.
May you happen upon the right people.”
The word "rastlamak" isn't just a random meeting, but an auspicious "coincidence" that feels right or destined. It’s often described as a gift from the universe. The image of two people walking hand in hand in a field makes this altogether very romantic…
Tuba’s second post recognizes that when attempting to share and explain her dreams and deepest feelings she is just like this little boy who is trying his hardest to express himself. And of course…the more profound the "rast" (the fated meeting), the harder it is to put into words.
We can only imagine what Tuba is trying to say🤍💙

Tuba shares how she spent her morning…a cup of coffee and a good film. The 1976 Brazilian romantic comedy, “Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands” is a satire of marriage, social expectations and the choices we make.
Tuba tells us she is in love with the soundtrack, particularly the Nara Leão version of “O Que Será (A Flor Da Pele)” (What Will Be (On the Surface of the Skin)). A song of intense and profound passion, desire and longing that results in unexplainable feelings that stir within us…
🎵What will it be that I feel?
And that rises to my cheeks and makes me blush
And that jumps to my eyes, betraying me
And that tightens my chest and makes me confess
What can no longer be disguised
And that no one has the right to refuse
And that makes me a beggar
Makes me plead
What has no measure, and never will
What has no remedy, and never will🎵
A lot of feelings to accompany an early morning coffee…and a good start to the day!🤍😌
