I find myself reminding both myself and others of this model of Jesus—to structure our lives in such a way that we invest in a few people's lives as he did. It may appear to yield a small and slow return, but the fruit is generational!
I gave a talk on these 10 hard lessons a few years ago. When I reread them this week, I realize I still stand by them!! Which one might you need to consider today?

I spent much of my Christian life telling God what to do. It didn’t work out well. The transition to a prayer life of surrendering our plans and will to His is among the greatest in the Christian life. But it often takes a lot of failure, disappointment, and loss to get us there.

$38.20 or $350???
Today I was offered $38.20 of credit toward a flight from @AmericanAir instead of them reimbursing me for $350 of hotel and meal expenses that I incurred due to their cancellation of my flight over 3 weeks ago.
What in the world?! #stillwaiting
Had a long call with a friend yesterday about “platform” and ministry. A few things came out of that call felt worth sharing:
1. Ministry isn’t supposed to be a platform. Pastoring isn’t a platform. It’s serving. It’s shepherding a specific group of people. It’s foot-washing.
All I’m asking for is the reimbursement of expenses incurred from @AmericanAir cancelling my flight. I’m ready to be contacted in order to make this right.
@AmericanAir Flight was cancelled-it happens, I get it. An @AmericanAir customer relations employee at the Boston Airport told me that because all the partner hotels were booked that I can book my own hotel and @AmericanAir will reimburse me hotel and food expenses.
Seemed reasonable so I booked a hotel, bought dinner for my family and emailed @AmericanAir the receipts. 3 weeks after the cancelled flight, today, @AmericanAir sends me an email telling me that I won’t receive any reimbursements. What is going on???!!!
