#WednesdayWisdom: While we search for abundant energy sources to sustainably support the #AI #datacenter buildout, don't forget about the steady stream of Los Angeles and Ohio class submarines the U.S. is decommissioning each year in Bremerton, Washington.

While there's lots of excitement around a "nuclear renaissance," electricity-producing submarine reactors are currently being cut out of decommissioned submarines and sent up the Columbia River to a final resting place in Hanford.

Let's jump start #nuclear powered data centers by working with the U.S. Navy and the Department of Energy extend the life of the #submarine reactors while we wait for Small Modular Reactors #SMR to be come online.

Mark's take: @Infineon is quietly becoming one of the biggest picks-and-shovels winners of the AI infrastructure boom. Its power semiconductors, silicon carbide, sensing, connectivity and security technologies sit inside the data centers, energy systems, industrial equipment and vehicles powering the AI era. While GPU makers capture the headlines, Infineon supplies the critical silicon that improves efficiency, reliability, thermal management and power delivery across the entire AI stack. The AI buildout does not run on compute alone, and Infineon is positioned to monetize nearly everything surrounding it.

Mark's take: @Samsung is reporting that its foldable momentum is building fast, with global Galaxy Z8 pre-orders up more than 30% and U.S. demand tracking toward a new Z-series record. The Galaxy Z Fold8 is driving nearly half of all pre-orders, while three times more Flip owners are upgrading to a Fold compared with the previous generation. That is a strong signal that foldables are moving beyond niche status and becoming a legitimate premium smartphone category. Samsung may have just set the stage for an even bigger industry moment if @Apple unveils its own foldable device in September.

It's not an overstatement to say that @NVIDIA is not just chasing the autonomous vehicle market. It is trying to define the open infrastructure that could finally make robotaxis safer, smarter and commercially scalable.

Alpamayo 2 Super is a 34-billion-parameter open reasoning model that can interpret 360-degree camera feeds, generate driving trajectories, explain why it made a decision and automatically label complex driving data. That combination could shrink painfully slow annotation cycles from months to days while giving developers a clearer view into what an autonomous system saw, thought and chose to do.

Just as important, NVIDIA is backing new SAFE cybersecurity transparency guidelines through the Open Source Security Foundation. That signals a bigger strategy: open AI cannot become trusted infrastructure unless security, transparency and accountability evolve alongside performance.

The robotaxi race will not be won by the flashiest demo. It will be won by platforms developers can inspect, customize, secure and deploy at scale.
