@megbasham Peter Hitchens once told a story about chatting with an Oxford undergrad, and making a reference to John the Baptist. The chap was obviously slightly embarrassed, but couldn’t quite bring himself to say what he was clearly thinking: ‘who’s John the Baptist?’
Check out the first episode of The Absolute State of Britain - first up, the gang rapists being let off scot free by a British judge.

"We need our best players on the pitch"
Right, so the devolved regions you go on about being so important are, what, the bench? Rotation for the Carabao Cup?
If you scanned my brain and asked me:
1) Do you want Spurs to get relegated?
2) Do you want Andy Burnham to lose his by-election?
The exact same part of my brain would light up like a Christmas tree.
@timothybarnett Wow way to prove the point. The t-shirt and noughties era self confident New Atheist smugness, the lack of bother to entertain the fact that this may have been answered, that he’s the first person to notice this…10/10 for hitting the caricature.
Just remember, all those who live in places that aren't London - Labour thinks you're the bench. The Carabao Cup. Where they send their 'best players' out on loan to get their minutes up, their match sharpness, ready to leave you and head to the Big Smoke. Andy Burnham hasn't been 'on the pitch' while Mayor of Manchester. He's been a rotation option. A sub.
Lovely.
If we ‘decriminalise’ all laws, like we just did for late term ‘abortion’ (baby killing) - the practical effect is to have no laws. If we ‘decriminalise’ assault, that is to not punish an assaulter, the assault laws are meaningless. How do people not see this?
@SBarrettBar Saw a post that referred to ‘late term embryos’. This person decided that others didn’t know what they were talking about.
If a 38 week gestation baby is an embryo, then so am I and so is my grandmother.
@timothy_stanley I recently had my third child. The second to easily clear the 10lb weight. The very notion that he could be outright murdered sends a chill so electrifying through the spine, it’s difficult to put into words.
