FIRST TEN// @MarskeUnitedFC
Seasiders Seeking Much Needed Stability.
Marske United enter the 2026–27 season in a state of transition: the stability provided by Burton staying but a much changed squad. Last season’s 16th‑place finish was a bruising campaign with long spells where Marske looked like a side permanently on the brink. Yet even in the chaos, there were all too brief moments that reminded everyone what Marske *can* be.
The first ten fixtures of 2026–27 will reveal whether Marske have stabilised — or whether another season of worrying turbulence lies ahead.
Three home games on the bounce to kick off the season should give them a fighting chance of early points to bolster belief.
A favourable start on paper against visitors that finished below the Seasiders last campaign. Whickham finished 18th and Marske won 3–2 at home last season, one of only four league wins at Mount Pleasant. A chance to build confidence. Perhaps.
Next up is a much tougher test. Easington hammered the Seasiders 4–0 at Mount Pleasant last November. Easington finished 9th and are physical, organised and relentless. Marske must show they’ve tightened up defensively.
The third home game sees relegated Blyth Town visit. Back in the NL after falling out of the Northern Premier League East they will provide another stern test of Marske’s credentials. An early benchmark.
A trip to Crook then awaits, the Black & Ambers finished 17th, just below Marske last campaign with the Seasiders losing 2–1 at the Millfield. Crook will be much-changed, but this is potentially a winnable fixture - if Marske avoid the defensive lapses that plagued them last season.
They then host Boro Rangers - who did the league double over Marske last season including a 4–2 win at Mount Pleasant on Boxing Day. Boro finished 5th and have been one of the division’s most complete sides over recent seasons. Marske will need to be compact and clinical.
The Seasiders will then travel to Bishop Auckland who have been very quick to assemble a strong squad as they look to bounce back to the Northern Premier League East at the first time of asking. A difficult away night game awaits.
Another challenging fixture is next at home as Whitley Bay, who finished 3rd last campaign visit Mount Pleasant. Marske failed to score in either game last season and fell to a 4-0 defeat on home soil. A tough fixture.
Up next is a trip to near-ish neighbours Thornaby. The Blues finished 14th last campaign after an improved second half of the season although Marske beat them 2–1 at Teesdale Park in January. A tricky fixture but they will see this as a chance for points.
The Seasiders then head up the A19 to North Shields - the scene for Marske’s best away performance of last season, a 3–0 win in early August. Shields finished 8th and with both sides struggling for consistency last campaign this is a fixture that could swing wildly.
The final fixture of the First Ten is an awayday in North Yorkshire. Northallerton finished bottom last season, only to be reprieved, with Marske completing the league double over them. That double included a 4–0 away victory.
Lots of changes on and off the pitch, can Marske rise above the noise to start strongly?

Confirmation that Euan McBride has today joined Thornaby.
One of our first signings upon our return to the Northern League, we thank Euan for all of his efforts over the past two seasons, the hat-trick at Horden being a standout memory.
All the best Euan 🤝
We are delighted to announce the signing of Euan McBride ahead of the 2026/27 season.
A former Hartlepool United youngster, Euan is no stranger to management duo Skelly and Kas, having previously worked under them at Marske United.
Still young and with plenty of potential to fulfil, Euan is a technically gifted player with two great feet and an exciting future ahead of him.
On signing for the Blue Lamps, Euan said "I’m buzzing to be signing for Thornaby FC and can’t wait to get started.
I’m looking forward to working alongside Kas and Skelly again, as well as playing under Jama who I’ve known for a long time.
It’s a great squad and there is some exciting signings. Can’t wait to get started and meet all the lads."
Welcome to Thornaby, Euan! 💙
