GLM 5.2 is reshaping the web design leaderboard, and it is doing it from the open source side.💻🌐
The new model climbs to first place on Design Arena’s single turn HTML web design evaluation, overtaking Claude Fable 5 and the Opus 4 line while keeping the same 744 billion parameter size and an MIT license. It also sets a new price preference frontier, with far lower per token costs than Fable 5, even though it does not yet win every category.
GLM 5.2 leans on high quality “expert template” layouts, avoids common failure cases, and reliably uses dependencies like chart.js, three.js, TailwindCSS and font awesome to ship code that runs and looks polished.
The model generates more intricate, animated sites with richer typography and layout, boosting user preference at the cost of longer generations and slower responses, which places it on the edge of the speed versus quality tradeoff.
Taken together, GLM 5.2 highlights how fast open models are catching up, giving teams a high performing, lower cost design engine they can inspect, fine tune and deploy on their own terms.
