What does Andy Burnham actually believe?
A TV debate today reveals:-
🙄 Public ownership of water companies would be an “option”, he says.
🙄 He has no “fixed position” on new North Sea drilling.
It’s just like Starmer – except with more political dexterity and carefully designed ambiguity says Annabelle Denham.
🇺🇦 He Drove Onto the Bridge in Full View of the Enemy and Blew It Up: In Memory of Hero of Ukraine Oleh Moroz, Defender of Donetsk Airport and the Man Who Destroyed the Bridge at Shchastia
What drives a person to climb into a truck loaded with explosives in full view of the enemy, drive it onto a bridge, retreat to safety, and detonate it in order to slow an advancing force?
Oleh Moroz could have answered that question in detail. But only a few months after carrying out that daring mission, he was killed in action.
Moroz was born in Mykolaiv and served in the 79th Air Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. He was the senior sergeant of an engineering and sapper platoon.
He signed a military contract in 2013 and chose to become a paratrooper.
Since 2014, he had been fighting in the war against Russian aggression. He took part in the liberation of Lyman in the spring of 2014 and later fought on the famous "Bravo" height during the summer campaign.
He also defended Donetsk Airport, where he suffered a severe leg injury from enemy tank fire. Doctors managed to save the limb, and after a long rehabilitation he returned to military service.
When Russia launched its full-scale invasion in 2022, Moroz's unit was deployed in eastern Ukraine.
Oleh received the title of Hero of Ukraine for his actions at the bridge in Shchastia.
A fellow soldier recalled how it happened.
Moroz and his comrades were ordered to destroy the bridge. The main demolition charge failed because the detonation lines had been severed. Commanders then decided to load explosives into a Ural military truck and drive it onto the bridge.
Oleh volunteered immediately.
He personally prepared the vehicle and, under heavy artillery fire, drove it onto the bridge. After reaching the target, he returned to cover at a safe distance and detonated the explosives, destroying the crossing.
For this act of courage, he was awarded Ukraine's highest state honor.
Another comrade remembered him as someone whose presence inspired confidence.
"When you went on a mission with Oleh, you felt calmer. He never refused to help anyone, freely shared his knowledge, and was a true professional sapper."
They described him as a positive, experienced, and highly competent soldier who genuinely cared about his comrades and demanded a serious attitude toward every mission.
Later, his unit was transferred from Luhansk region to Donetsk region.
On June 10, 2022, Oleh Moroz was killed in action near Sloviansk—just two days after his birthday on June 8.
He was survived by his parents and sister.
Oleh was buried on June 24, 2022, at Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv.
On July 1, 2022, he was posthumously awarded the Order for Courage, Third Class. He was also posthumously promoted to the rank of Senior Sergeant.
His courage, professionalism, and sacrifice remain part of the legacy of Ukraine's defenders.
This is a shocker. Iceland founder Sir Malcolm Walker tells how a senior Asian employee at his store in Enfield was handcuffed and dragged to a police car after a black customer rang 999 and alleged racism after being caught tampering with milk bottles.
The point Sir Malcolm makes in the Mail
On Sunday is that the cops turned up just 3 minutes after the false claim and yet they often didn’t attend even when staff had been seriously hurt or threatened with violence.
Incredibly, the member of staff was taken away for more than two hours before the matter was dropped.
The Met said a man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence.
After a week of fighting for her life, 19-year-old student Irina Zabudko, who was injured during a massive Russian attack on Kyiv on June 2, has died
The girl's death was announced by her teacher, Vsevolod Zelennin. Irina was a second-year student at the Faculty of Psychology of the Mykhailo Dragomanov National University of Kyiv.
The girl suffered serious injuries during Russia's combined attack on Kyiv on the night of June 2. Doctors fought for her life for a week, but failed to save the student.
Recall that as a result of that attack on the capital, seven people were killed and another 90 were injured, including three children.
💔 — I express my condolences to her relatives and friends
Always get up early this day to remember this man. Bing would be married now, be a father, experience the love of his children. The years only elevate his sacrifice.
Too tall to fit in the back of the truck, I cradled him as his life ebbed away that morning. Always consistent, always brave, deeply courageous yet humble and kind. I’ll never forget him, and neither should the Nation. #neverforget
Did you know that over 100,000 social homes in London are occupied by immigrants from just four countries?
Somalian, Jamaican, Bangladeshi and Nigerian immigrants head a combined 104,567 social homes in London.
How does this benefit British taxpayers?

Best political interview I've seen in years. Gloriously, Lammy is too stuffed with cognitive dysentery to fully appreciate the baroque splendour of the skewering he's being subjected to. Masterful from @TrevorPTweets, if only all the media were like this.
1 million NEETs is an urgent problem. But where's Labour's urgency? After 6 months of inactivity, young people are far less likely to EVER work.
Milburn *actually* said Labour's piecemeal programmes won't work. We need proper jobs which requires the government to back businesses - not punish them.
Last year, more than 600,000 non-EU migrants came to Britain.
Meanwhile, over a hundred thousand young British people left.
Mass migration is wrecking opportunity for young people. When I asked the Home Secretary about this, she didn't even pretend to answer the question.

It is a mark of shame for this Labour government that we’re still waiting for the Defence Investment Plan. Even worse that reports say it won’t be funded properly.
It has been over a year since the government concluded its review of our armed forces. The investment plan should have been published last autumn. The military is tearing its hair out waiting for Keir Starmer to make a decision. British jobs are on the line. Our national security is being undermined.
Labour do not understand defence. The Conservatives were ready to send munitions and supplies to Ukraine at the start of that war. Keir Starmer has been caught on the back foot since the war in Iran began.
I have said the next Conservative government will make sure we prioritise defence spending in a more dangerous world. We will reinstate the two child benefit cap, and use it to fund a larger military. And we will divert money away from Ed Miliband’s net zero projects and into a Strategic Defence Fund, capable of raising up to £50 billion for our armed forces.
Labour only care about funding welfare, they cannot be trusted with our national security.
I’m stunned. The Sunday Times is reporting Hampshire police wanted to portray Henry Nowak as the aggressor in an official statement three days after his death, but changed their wording following outrage from his family.
I’ll be covering this shocking and contemptible revelation from the hosting chair on The Late Show Live. @GBNEWS 12am.
North Yorkshire Police made a grovelling public apology to "our LGBTQ+ communities" – but has refused to apologise to a Christian officer it wrongly sacked for asking a question about Islam at a training day. https://t.co/ghWPzWTZ3r
The Welfare Party cannot afford defence. What else explains the delay to the Defence Investment Plan?
That might be forgivable in years gone by, but now - with wars in Europe and the Middle East - when we urgently need to update our military for modern warfare fought with drones and AI. It’s not good enough.
Labour must get the benefits bill under control.
