Math 3 and Math 3 Honors at Raleigh Charter HS // Disney addict // live music lover // Social Justice Warrior + Crazy Equity Kid // tweets are mine & mine alone
In case it wasn’t already said, the things I tweet are representative of me, myself and I. My thoughts. My emotions. I do not (nor do I want to!) speak for my school or my district. I speak for me and me alone. If there’s an issue with something I tweet, please DM me.
some news: I resigned from teaching and am a week into my career at Fidelity Investments. as much as I loved my students, the last 2 years + the rhetoric around teaching has been painful enough to cause me to need to step back. here’s to the future! (+ wfh days with the best)
@LITeracy365 There was one day I asked my Alexa the temperature, she replied and then followed with “By the way, do you want me to get to know you better?” I said no because that’s creepy and then she started playing Breakaway by Kelly Clarkson… 😳😳
I also had a student tell me yesterday that they really liked my taste in music (I play music softly in the background almost every time group work happens) so clearly I’m also educating them on what’s TRULY important here 😉💁🏼♂️
After three days of community building and norm setting, it’s so nice to get back to physically doing math! Math 1 students are already taking advantage of all the whiteboards in my room while Math 3 Honors students started today with some Quizlet Live.
@RdngTeach That’s so cool!! That was one of my top events most of the way through high school. I have full faith in your boy! Also… those 400 IM finals last night were INSANE.
You CAN be the fun teacher, or the nice teacher, or the teacher that all the kids like, and still have high expectations of them to follow the rules. It IS possible.
had a teacher first this week: a student who I’ve only taught virtually this year emailed me thanking me for everything I’ve done this year and if I would be willing to write her a letter of recommendation for college. I’ve never replied “Yes!” to an email so fast.
@_jesspeacock@skortlandt I just had a flashback to HS French 1 and learning numbers. They use “and” in between units sometimes, i.e. 21 is “vingt-et-un”. Even if “et” isn’t used, most all numbers above 20 are broken up like this with units. Not sure how it connects, but it’s the thought I had this AM!
