Lifestyle intervention-induced visceral adipose tissue (VAT) loss may persist despite weight regain and confer lasting cardiometabolic benefits: VAT loss, not weight loss, may be the key target for durable cardiometabolic health. https://t.co/uHef45YF0d

Grateful to an incredible team and global collaborators 💚💙
Thank you @MattFeinsteinMD@IUCVInstitute@IUMedSchool@IUIntMed for a truly memorable visit. Indiana has given us beloved teachers (Drs. Zipes, Feigenbaum, Miler) to the world of cardiology and of course our own Coach Wooden to the world!
Special day here at @IUCVInstitute@IUMedSchool@IUIntMed !
✅Grateful to host the inspiring @shivkumarmd as Zipes visiting professor
✅Honoring John Miller and Anjan Sinha as the inaugural Zipes and Feigenbaum Distinguished Physician-Educators, with namesakes in attendance!
Congratulations to Andrew Gonzalez, MD, JD, MPH, FACS, on receiving national recognition for his National Institutes of Health-funded research focused on developing an intelligent clinical decision support system for peripheral arterial disease. His proposal was recognized as an outstanding submission and will support continued research and innovation in vascular care. 🔬🩺

🚨What if we could reliably program macrophage polarization state?🚨
https://t.co/6qGxuHptQq
Macrophages are highly plastic immune cells that perform critical functions by polarizing into distinct cellular states. The polarization state of macrophages can substantially influences the progression of cancers, infections, and autoimmunity. (1/11)
Welcome to IU Surgery, Marc Gerdisch, MD, FACS, FACC, FHRS. 👏
Gerdisch joined our Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery on April 1, bringing nearly 30 years of experience and a global reputation in complex cardiac care. We’re excited to welcome his leadership and expertise in research, surgical training and quality care.

Celebrating our new faculty member, Marc Gerdisch, leading the American Heart Association Ball 2026. Strong showing from the @iu_health and the Cardiovascular Institute leadership teams! @IU_Surgery@IU_Health@IUMedSchool
New preprint: mass cytometry across 351 blood + CSF samples, two cohorts, full AD continuum.
Peripheral immune signatures (pAkt in naïve T killer cells, pPLCγ2 in granulocytes) emerge in preclinical AD, before plasma ptau217, CSF ptau181, and DCE-MRI BBB disruption. Not seen in FTLD or MS.
I guess this suggests that immune changes are among the earliest detectable events in AD. Might have implications for early biomarkers.
