I doubt you’d say it to Martin O’Neill’s face… what an embarrassing take anyway. Scottish people care about Scottish football and you can carry on not caring from London.
Nothing compares to hitting 6s, uprooting poles or jagging one violently back into a batters inner thigh. Enjoy #cricket until your body allows. Enjoy the mateship. Best of luck for all teams in the 2023 @CricketScotland season. Above all, respect the umpires! No nonsense please.
Hurdles?
- In a matter of weeks Cricket Scotland will not have a single C-Suite executive
- There are two volunteers on the Board and no Chair
- The internal team is disgruntled and demotivated by the constant public bashing of their progress and high turnover at the C-Suite and Board level
- They are operating on a hand-to-mouth budget that barely runs the sport
- There is no permanent coach for Men's and Women's teams. There is also no Cricket post-August for the Men's team which means no more incremental revenue
- There is also a huge recruitment problem given no one wants to work at Cricket Scotland
- Regional Development officers are dropping like flies which means the development of grass-roots cricket is not moving forward quickly enough
- Every new investor you speak to does not want to touch the organisation unless sportscotland and politics are removed from the game.
- Existing partners are petrified by the headlines that are generated by false statements and are considering removing their support
- Historic cricket clubs in Scotland are going bust and many more will go bust in the coming 6 - 12 months
- The club scene is completely fragmented and basic governance does not exist
- Other countries are moving miles ahead of Cricket Scotland and the gap is getting wider and wider
These are a fraction of the problems that exist. A fraction. Can you help with any of these @kaukab?
If you can raise money, restructure a firm, recruit development officers, roll out EDI training programs, save the domestic club scene, secure more cricket fixtures, build a commercial team, secure a broadcast partner, build a social media strategy and monetise it, reduce the cost structure and implement a highly technical governance review then that would be great. That's what the sport really needs to thrive.
Ok so just to be clear .. John Blain now officially isn’t a racist isn’t guilty of being a racist but now guilty of being associated with people that have admitted to using racial slurs .. that sum it up ? Let him get his life back and allow him to do what he does best - coach !
