In NBA history, only once has a player had:
150+ points
75+ rebounds
50+ FT made
15+ threes made
15+ blocks
10+ steals
...over any 7-game span, regular season or playoffs.
That one instance was Victor Wembanyama in the Western Conference Finals to oust the defending champs.
Aside from the fact that this is awful, awkward television, it’s also just ahistorical.
In his 4 years in Houston, Chuck averaged 16-12-4, including averaging 18 & 12 during a run to the Western Conference Finals.
Draymond continues to recreate history.
I will die on the proverbial basketball hill that this kid is a franchise player.
The number of people both inside and outside the fanbase (mostly outside tbh) who were so quick to sell his stock because of a single tough season, while ignoring all context — (& it’d still be a career year for a ton of guys in the league) was always comical to me, check my receipts.
Fetch me a list of players doing this at 23…. yes, he’s ONLY TWENTY-THREE.
The upside to someone of his size & skill-set is astronomical…. & to be so short-sighted that you think for a second Orlando should trade him is hilariously poor judgment.
I understand that the vast majority of these sentiments came from armchair analysts and accounts who just loved to hate on him because for whatever reason it has been the popular thing to do, but still…
Does he have things to work on? Of course. Are any of those things impossible to improve at for a 23 year old? No, not at all.
You don’t luck your way into his playoff averages after 17 games. He’s a playoff riser & has all the makings of a future NBA Champion.
If Cade is an MVP candidate (and I believe he’s every bit of that — he’s an absolute hooper) then what is Paolo? There’s no way you can say he’s far off.
Point being, one guy is almost unanimously labeled an MVP candidate while the other was almost unanimously written off but he’s out here going band for band with an MVP caliber player.
A "perfect draft scenario" for the Bucs would be the Arizona Cardinals getting antsy with Ty Simpson on the board at 15.
Moving the Bucs down out of the first round to create TRUE value for the guys on the board while gaining 2 additional picks.
