Cam Atkinson (@CamAtkinson1389) has announced his retirement from the @NHL after 13 seasons.
After being selected by the @BlueJacketsNHL in the sixth round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Cam played three years of collegiate hockey at Boston College, winning the national championship with the Eagles in the spring of 2010.
Cam’s professional hockey career began in the spring of 2011 with the Blue Jackets’ AHL affiliate in Springfield. The following season, on October 7, 2011, Cam made his NHL debut and scored his first career goal just three days later on October 10, 2011.
During the 2016-17 campaign, Cam was selected to his first All-Star Game and would finish the season with 35 goals and 62 points. Just two seasons later, Cam established new career highs in goals (41), assists (28), and points (69) while earning his second All-Star Game appearance.
In July 2021, after 627 games with the Blue Jackets, Cam was acquired by the @NHLFlyers, playing 143 games for Philadelphia before signing with the @TBLightning during the 2024 offseason, appearing in 39 games for Tampa Bay last season. Cam concludes his NHL career with 253 goals and 236 assists for 489 points over 809 games.
With his retirement announcement, Cam signed a one-day contract with Columbus, retiring as a Blue Jacket.
Congratulations, Cam, on a great career, and welcome to the NHL Alumni Association.
