@NickVeronica One of my best friends was a surveyor on the site for almost two years and his name wasn’t on the wall- we checked when attending the Steelers game the other week. Is it actually every worker? Or just the ones who are in a union? Some other qualification?
There is no greater weapon against conservatism or fascism in this country. None. Because they offer absolutely nothing. That's their entire ethos. Taking things away from people. However the Democrats also offer nothing so when the Republicans offer culture war bullshit it actually seems appealing to some people because it's "something." This sort of real material offering though is unbeatable. It's why FDR kept Democrats in power for years.
@GreenGoesLeft Ah, okay.
We’re usually hiring servers here- and at the moment we’re also looking for a banquet manager- but unfortunately there is a large annual police event hosted here…. But I’ll certainly keep an eye out for anything else I see!
It's 2027. The AI bubble has popped. The US dollar has bust. It's 500 dollars to buy a burger and it makes you immediately have diarrhea. The sun has been renamed America.
NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani says he does not support changing Constitution to allow him to run for president:
“I think the Constitution looks good the way it is.”
We cannot consider #AI to be morally neutral. In reality, every technical tool embodies choices and priorities through what it measures, ignores, and optimizes, and how it classifies people and situations. Ethical discernment cannot be limited to asking whether we are using a system for good or bad purposes. It must also examine how that system is designed and what vision of the human person and society is embedded in the data and models that guide it. #MagnificaHumanitas
Everyone always talking about “talent density” in Silicon Valley when we really should be talking about how 80% of pretzels in America come from a small region of Pennsylvania
We found another surreal place on our way. I know some people will say I’m too positive about everything I see, but this place was crazy. They had a shooting range in the store.
Beautiful gag in How to Marry a Millionaire (1953) where Marilyn Monroe and Lauren Bacall are fantasizing about marrying a wealthy man and then it cuts to Betty Grable who is just dreaming about a delicious sandwich
