We promote Beaver as a tool to maintain stream integrity, restore riparian/wetland habitat and increase water storage while involving and educating the public.
📍We're exploring a few areas in Washington where beavers are helping reclaim and repair the land of a former levy and irrigation site as well as an area that was destroyed by a fire in 2014. Beavers are the best engineers out there!

Do you have a question about beavers? Not sure who to ask? Ask me!
I did my PhD on #beavers & still study them! No question is too silly, small, or strange. If I can’t answer your question, I’ll probably know who can & will point you to them.
Happy International Beaver Day Everyone! The beavers must have heard the news, because one showed up at the hatchery this morning all on its own. Unfortunately it got stuck in a fish run and spent the hole night with some very confused fish! It’s safe and back in the methow now!
As #beavers are once again called a "problem" for "damaging" the Arctic, please remember that they're a climate-tracking species. They lived in the High Arctic before when it was warmer. Managing climate-tracking species needs nuance, not loaded language.

On the contrary, beavers actually HELP fish in many ways. They provide slow water refugia for fish on their long journey, as well as feeding habitat, and over-wintering locations for fish.

There's a lot in this beaver meme here! What's your favorite part?
We appreciate the truth of the phrase "Leave it to Beaver," which reflects the multifaceted ecological restoration dimensions that beavers generate every day.
For them, improving ecosystem health is just business as usual, and they do it for free!
As a side note, just to be perfectly clear, beavers do not eat fish. They are 100% vegan - plants only. It's a common misconception that beavers eat fish.
We're relaunching our YouTube channel!
