A new study from @imperialcollege, the Met Office and @LSHTM estimates that more than 2,700 excess deaths occurred in England and Wales during the May and June heatwaves.
Climate change added between 3-4°C to maximum temperatures and is estimated to be responsible for about 42% of the deaths across both heatwaves.

Since the 1960s, air pollution levels have fallen dramatically as legislation & cleaner tech replaced coal. London’s air is far cleaner today, but PM2.5 levels still exceed the WHO guideline & air pollution remains a serious health risk. More: https://t.co/bc6SI11j9V

Great to support this Impact-Based Forecasting (IBF) workshop – bringing together national stakeholders with local perspectives & insights to come up with a roadmap for strengthening anticipatory action through IBF for flood & drought
#UKAidWISER@FCDOGovUK@WFPIndonesia
22–24 June 2026 | Bandung 🌧️📉
A meaningful step forward—turning local insights into nationwide action.
With support from #UKaidWISER, WFP and partners made progress at using weather information to spot risks early & act fast. Set a clear plan to fix gaps in the policy, data, and funding.
During the opening remarks, Jaakko Valli, Deputy Country Director of WFP Indonesia, mentioned, “…IBF should help us to connect the dots, not just what kind of hazard is coming, but what does this hazard means for the people, when to act, and where to act… IBF turns information into decisions & actions...”
