I just don’t know that I have it in me to get emotionally invested in another* softball season. I think this one has finally done me in…
*I will absolutely do it again… next year, I’m sure…
@BrooksACarter I know you’re the stats and graphics guy. I’m almost always a podcast listener, so I tend to be too late. But per today’s discussion of “most competitive conference,” I submit 2025 statistics. Is the B1G best at the very top the last 2-3? Yes. Best overall? No.
@jimdunaway you work with two insane individuals. AJ McCarron is the greatest QB in Alabama history. 1) it wasn’t the most talented, it was best. 2) If we’re using the 2020 team, I would STILL start AJ over every single QB in our history.
@MattSmithCFB still says nothing about my initial, and main, point. and also says you want most “deserving” which is totally subjective. at least “best” has some objective stats to back it up in a system that has way too many teams to begin with.
This is my problem with 99.999% of conspiracy theories: they require way too many people to keep their mouths shut for far too long. Rationally, this is absurd.
That Bama team took the eventual champion* to OT btw, and if not for a botched snap they very well may have won.
It is my belief that Nick Saban did not keep his likely retirement a complete secret until January 10, and I think the committee was probably aware.
And remember, Herbstreit said 13-0 FSU was not a CFP lock before Jordan Travis got hurt, which should have raised eyebrows.
I’m ok with 12. I’m more ok with 16 with 0 autobids. Take the top 16 and go. No byes. 1st and 2nd round on campus. Final 4 at major bowl sites. NCG rotate between Indy, Atlanta, Dallas, and Pasadena.
OM pointed a proverbial gun @ the playoff run & said “sign an extension w/ us or else,” & we act like Lane is the reason this thing turned into a mess. They could have just as easily waited until after the season to force the issue. What part of that would make Lane want to stay?
Everyone gets mad at Lane Kiffin for leaving, and I understand the resentment. But part of the reason it turned into a major circus was that the man wanted to stay through the CFP run.
No, you are not going to lead a boycott of a Christopher Nolan movie, and your attempts to do so just reveal how little cultural influence you actually have.
@NextRoundLive I know I’m primarily a podcast listener and thus comment late, but as far as the unbreakable records discussion…. Alabama has not lost a road game where the opposing team hasn’t rushed the field since Nov 6, 2010. It’s 2026. That’s 15 full seasons. Unbreakable.
@RyanBrownLive look, just to be abundantly fair, he didn’t say that, at least not in any of the quotes I have read. He said (albeit claimed) what others *allegedly* said to him.
24 teams is absolute garbage. 16 was pushing it, but would have been much better.
The only reason we’re going to 24 is so that coaches and AD’s can claim some form of “success” because they made the playoff… as the 23rd best team in CFB. It’s a joke.
@PeterBurnsESPN I thought that was the whole point of the movie? That others were selfish and easily baited into chasing an enemy plane and leaving the bombers exposed. The Tuskegee Airmen wouldn’t leave the bombers to chase the bait.
@cwig8@Vern_Funquist I think he started playing at 15, which is still a really cool story. While I don’t love seeing college athletes playing for 6 seasons, it’s not the sole reason to not care for a particular player. But it certainly exacerbates a bad attitude. CBM was the epitome of this.
