Mindframe has been named the Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred/The Racing Biz Top Midlantic-bred of 2025 after a season that included two Grade 1 wins, three graded stakes victories, and $1.4 million+ in earnings. The #MDBred son of Constitution will stand at Claiborne Farm in KY.
The Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred was well represented at the 2025 Media Eclipse Awards as our editor, Joe Clancy, earned an honorable mention in the News/Enterprise category for his "Journalism Writes a Masterpiece in Preakness Thriller," which appeared in our July/August magazine.
Two-time Eclipse Award winner Scott Serio also earned an honorable mention in the photography category for his "Floating in the Fog," which also appeared in our July/August edition.

The Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred won multiple awards this past weekend at the American Horse Publications Conference including General Excellence for Overall Publication.
Our magazine also won the General Excellence Award for Print Publication under 10,000. Our Editor Joe Clancy won the Association Feature Single Article award for his article "20/20 Hindsight" on regional-bred Smarty Jones in our May 2024 edition of Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred.
Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred also won Editorial Action Photograph for Scott Serio's "Night Rider -- Skippylongstocking wins the Charles Town Classic," photo that featured in our October 2024 magazine.
What a weekend!
Hats off to PA-bred Witty who came flying late to win the $125,000 Jim McKay Turf Sprint. A 6-year-old gelding, Witty was bred by trainer Elizabeth Merryman.
Witty was sired by Maryland-based Northview Stallion Station's Great Notion out of the Congrats mare Zeezee Zoomzoom.
The racing world’s biggest names gathered this morning, Friday May 16 at Pimlico for morning workouts ahead of today’s Black-Eyed Susan Stakes-G2 and tomorrow’s Preakness Stakes-G1.
