A corporate board doesn’t throw a parade for a CEO just because they didn't bankrupt the company. Staying afloat is the baseline. You don't applaud a politician for building a road. Infrastructure isn't a gift; it's a basic contractual requirement paid for by you, taxpayers.
Some voters really irk me. A child doesn't say "Thank you for feeding me." They thrive. A voter shouldn't say "Thank you for the roads." They re-elect. Doing what you are legally obligated to do isn't a favor, it's the baseline. Let's stop romanticizing basic governance.
Imagine thanking your dad every time he pays the electric bill. Sounds absurd, right? Yet we treat politicians like philanthropists for spending our tax money on our infrastructure. Do your job. If you do it well, your "thank you" is another 4 years. Not applause.
And I quote "A system where you have to justify your income to a government that doesn't have to justify its spending is inherently illegitimate".. Tafakari hayo
