Nine years ago today, Cameroonian journalist Tsi Conrad was arrested for documenting government abuse at a protest. Today, as he continues to serve an unjust 15-year prison sentence, we call for his immediate and unconditional release. #FreeThemAll

A coup d’état has been reported in Benin, marking the third coup in Africa within the past two months.
These events reflect a worrying pattern and a clear indication of shrinking democratic space across the continent.
More often than not, leaders refuse to accept democratic transitions or honor election results when they are voted out.
Cameroon remains a ticking time bomb, as the people continue to stand firm, insisting that the people’s will from the last presidential election must be respected.
“It has been recycled for years, when Kagame regime wants to justify a new deployment or an escalation in DRC. The idea that everything hinges on the FDLR being neutralized has become a political tool more than an honest security argument.” ~ I spoke to DW https://t.co/BAIe86fNfL
Yesterday, during a long broadcast we had, I spoke to Dr Muna Ekane, the son of Anicet Ekane. I asked him how his dad was doing. We all heard him speak before the entire nation with courage and hope. He believed his father would return home. He believed justice would prevail.
Less than 24 hours later, we are forced to confront the horrific truth that the Biya regime has taken yet another innocent Cameroonian life.
Why was Anicet Ekane arrested? Not for any crime. Not for any violence. But simply because he held a political position. Because he dared to think differently from the CPDM, because he believed Cameroon deserved progress, truth, and dignity.
The Biya regime arrested him without justification, and he died in their custody. He was denied access to his medical equipment. So this is not accidental death. It is state-sanctioned murder.
This is not the first time, and terrifyingly, it may not be the last.
It happened to #Wazizi, whose death the government tried to deny… a body still missing, a family still in unimaginable pain.
And now Anicet Ekane.
Another name added to a growing list of Cameroonians who have paid the ultimate price simply for speaking out.
How many more?
What we are witnessing is a dangerous escalation a regime so emboldened that it targets its own citizens without fear of consequences. The message is clear that anyone who dares to disagree is seen as disposable.
The world cannot remain silent. Human life in Cameroon cannot continue to be treated as something cheap, something expendable.
Anicet Ekane stood for a better future for his people. The least we can do now is stand for him, and refuse to look away.
May his memory ignite the courage to demand truth, accountability, and the protection of every Cameroonian life.
Justice for Anicet.
Justice for Wazizi.
Justice for all.
Anicet Ekane nous a quittés 💔 🕊
L'homme politique camerounais était le Président du Mouvement africain pour la nouvelle indépendance et la démocratie #Manidem#Cameroon.
Anicet Ekane has died in detention.
They kidnapped him, without cause, confiscated his medical equipment and refused proper medical care, because he dared to stand up for truth. Yes, the regime killed Anicet Ekane. This was a political assassination.
Anicet had a purity of heart that is very rare of politicians. A man of such deep conviction.
Rest in Power my dear friend. We will continue your battle to #FreeCameroon
The Biya regime arrested an innocent politician and killed him while he was in custody.
Why was Anicet Ekane arrested? Because he supported #Tchiroma, nothing else.
This happened to #Wazizi, and the same government justified it and got away with it, and to this day, Wazizi’s body has not been found.
The world can not be silent about this blatant disregard for human life.
They are getting more and more emboldened. They will kill us all. They are almost unstoppable!
BREAKING NEWS: Anicet Ekane died in custody this morning, according to Barrister Emmanuel Simh. Ekane was the president of the MANIDEM party and was arrested after the October 12 presidential election following his sworn support for Issa Tchiroma Bakary.

HUGE NEWS! Journalist & Humanitarian Achomba Hans has been RELEASED by the Cameroon government! After 8 days of forced disappearance, he is FREE.
A massive THANK YOU to everyone who campaigned tirelessly for his release. Your voices made a difference
#AchombaHansIsFree
@Nath_Yamb this was @africatechie making a case for you just two months ago. This is what we know and respect her for. Take your flowers, Rebecca, for standing tall when the nation needs you the most. #FreeCameroon
The EU’s actions against Nathalie Yamb trample justice and human rights. You don’t have to agree with her to see it. This isn’t just silencing dissent, it’s about destroying anyone who disagrees with them. If they can do it to her, they will do it to others.
Are you referring to MMI News or Mimi Mefo? And since when did you start putting me in the same category as those who claim to be journalists while silencing and imprisoning others? You seem to be relying on online propaganda instead of taking the time to inform yourself. Do a quick Google search about my work as a journalist, then come back, and let’s have an informed conversation...
Your premise that #Anglophones did not vote is wrong, hence your conclusions are all bound to be wrong.
Yes, you called for a lockdown. It is either you are naive or you are working for Biya. Only you know which.
Your lockdown did not stop the people's votes from being stolen by the CPDM as they did in 2018 and 2020. Rather, your lockdown facilitated the steal. They voted without casting a ballot as now, they are the regions with the highest support for Biya, thanks to you.
You think you know what is best for the people and impose restrictions on them using threats of violence. Look at places like #Buea where people defied your useless orders and went out to vote. Do you know what their message is? That they reject Biya and the #CPDM who caused them untold suffering. The numbers there showing Biya losing is a clearer message.
What message does your lockdown which led to massive rigging in favour of Biya send? You wittingly or ignorantly rewarded Biya.
If you have any dignity left, you will hide your face in shame, given the numbers coming out from those regions in favour of #Biya, instead of trying to use me and my name for clicks, like some of your separatist brothers and sisters have been doing!

Mimi Mefo and the Politics of Pretence: When ‘Defend Your Votes’ Really Means Protest”
Mimi Mefo and all those clamouring for change in Cameroon know very well that Biya will be declared the winner. I challenge them to use their platforms now and call on Cameroonians to go out massively and protest. Are you afraid to call it what it is? You’re quick to call for people to vote massively and cleverly hide behind the phrase defend your votes. But what does that really mean?
Mimi et al., be bold and call it by its name — PROTEST — until all hell breaks loose. @MimiMefoInfo@mimimefo https://t.co/1rpOu5rVm7
You, or anyone close to you, have probably never been kidnapped and had your naked body found like #MartineZogo.
None of your relatives has ever been arrested, jailed, and then killed, with the body never released for you to even bid them farewell, like this regime did to #SamuelWazizi.
You have probably never become a bike rider after studying medicine or law.
So, of course, why won't you find it easy to blame someone else when you see nothing wrong with a government that has dragged the country’s human rights record and development to its knees?
Dear Van Linge,
Your agenda to destabilise and stir up the Cameroonian people will not succeed.
We do not need your opinion on the vote counting process that took place last Sunday.
Kind regards
