@ayman_eckford@pippawestauthor You can but it doesn't mean they will like that project either. And it's not easy finding a new agent so you better be sure of your reasons for parting before you decide to leave!
@moniza_hossain Also, it appears some people are dependent on AI enough that they're starting to talk like it. The other day I overheard a young guy talking to his girlfriend on a walk, saying, "It's more about blah blah blah, less about blah. All in one sentence. ๐ฒ
@moniza_hossain I can recognize it easily, too. I worry that publishers will ignore the obvious signs if they come across a really great hook that will sell copies. They're not drawing a hard line against AI generated work which is troubling.
@writermom62 As long as you feel the first 30 pages are in good shape, I'd send! It's going to take them a while to read. If they request the full before you're finished, that's when you need to let them know.
@Sally_writes Other people have no place to judge how you decide to respond to your own situation. I hope you are not getting judgment from people who are not experiencing the same thing you are because they have no idea what their outlook would be. I admire your honesty & strength!
@SketchesbyBoze 5/5 books. If admin pay attention to this study and decide they need to do something about it IN ORDER TO IMPROVE TEST SCORES, kids will discover books they love and stay off their screens, at least during the time they are at school if we do this the right way.
@SketchesbyBoze 2/ with multiple choice questions and swing back to teaching class novels again. Maybe schools will invest in classroom libraries and school libraries. Maybe they will emphasize the joy of reading because it translates into improved test scores. There's a small movement in
@SketchesbyBoze 4/5 This is what I do in my classroom, and the majority of my 5/6/7th graders moved on to mostly novels even if they started with graphic novels only. And while many middle schoolers still can enjoy the different formats, they are learning to push through longer more challenging
@SketchesbyBoze 3/schools to move away from screens. If this grows into a bigger movement, schools will be a place where kids read and discuss and write about the books they're reading, and if teachers start emphasizing independent reading, kids will start finding books to read outside of school
Check our Lit Kids Magazine, w/ amazing writing all done by kids! If you have a kid who loves to write, they're accepting spooky stories through 8/7! Please repost to spread the word about this incredible opportunity for kids to become published authors! https://t.co/0irtsmev1L
@rockerskating I agree with your ranking! But so much fun rewatching this talented group of skaters who were artists as well; missing a jump did not destroy the whole performance as often seems to happen these days. Thanks for the rewatch!
@RewiringK12@tylerkingkade Thanks. This is helpful info. The problem is AI is being rolled out so fast, it's being pushed in k-12 schools &higher ed and there doesn't seem to be any oversight, just lots of confusion. Teachers are definitely using it for writing and students are definitely using it to cheat
@EveKeneinan ELA teacher here. This is an example of "meeting students where they are" & taking that to the extreme. It's why graphic novels take the place of novels. We can incorporate media in creative ways but do we just give up on teaching kids to read and write?
@brandoncapuano@JamieHuston19 It's frustrating that so many just shrug it off or say it's here to stay, better get with the program or get left behind. It's like no one is actually paying attention to what's happening. Right now, those of us who are paying attentionโparents and teachersโare called alarmists
@RewiringK12@tylerkingkade How are we using AI in elementary school? If kids don't learn to write on their own in the early grades, they will never learn how. What's an example of positive use?
@brandoncapuano@JamieHuston19 AI is taking things to a dangerous new level. AI can do all the projects, papers, journals and quizzes w/o kids doing any work. This includes the college level. Admin keeps pushing this. If changes aren't made, we will have a whole generation that can't think for themselves.
@brandoncapuano@JamieHuston19 As a teacher of 30years, I would say there have been some positive ways of incorporating technology into the classroom. My students have created blogs, book trailers, Jeopardy games, interactive slide shows. But as always happens in education, "experts" take it too far.
