Here it is for those interested. An excellent start to a short story unit. Sparked important and honest conversations with 6th graders.
Today was the first day of our short story unit, we started by using "Min Jee's Lunch" as an anchor text. I had several students ask when we were going to get to read the rest of Min Jee's story. What should I tell them, @teachntransform?
It's hard to describe the immense amount of relief I feel at the mere possibility of holding the upcoming administration accountable.
Critique and constructive criticism has been a non-starter for the past 4 years.
To have that back is indescribable.
Okay can I just give a quick shoutout to @Flipgrid?! Hands down one of the best edu-apps out there. So responsive to educator feedback. Constantly upgrading and adding features. No limits or payments. Truly saving teachers and students during hybrid/remote teaching, THANK YOU!!
Q3: (For our last question) What were the biggest takeaways/lessons that you plan to use in the classroom this year? (feel free to reference the whole book, not just section 4!) #TBIARBookClub#HoldingTheDoorOpen
Q2: There is a chapter that talks about loving and being your authentic self. Why do you think this is an important part in anti-racist practices? #TBIARBookClub#HoldingTheDoorOpen
Sorry all! Got the timings mixed up for our Twitter chat on the final section (Holding the Door Open) of This Book is Anti-Racist by @tiffanymjewell. Rescheduled for 4pm GST 9 Aug. See you soon! #TBIARBookClub#HoldingTheDoorOpen
Looking forward to Week 2 of the book club with @MissBsLibrary 📕! We are preparing to discuss Part 2 of This Book is Anti-Racist by @tiffanymjewell. #TBIARBOOKCLUB#OPENINGTHEWINDOW
A3: By understanding what personal/institutionalized racism is we can work to recognize it and dismantle it. Understanding identity is understanding that not everyone's identity fits in the imaginary box created by those in the dominant culture #TBIARBookClub
A2: No matter how large or small the school, there are going to be a variety of identities. It is important (for Ts and Ss) that those identities are represented in what they are learning in the classroom (1/2)
