2 of our P6F learners who absolutely love Dermot O’Leary’s ‘Toto the Ninja Cat’ novels recreated the covers and blurbs for our bunting activity to celebrate @BookWeekScot What do you think @radioleary ?! 🐈⬛ 🥷🏼
We had a pal for our writing this morning - not sure who was more excited, the kids or me 🤷🏻♀️❤️!
More work on character development and our storyline approach for this term’s writing ✍🏼
To kick off our narrative writing block, P67W took notes on a character description in this novel by @magicgareth. We then developed the character using the notes we took and illustrated them! Great start to our narrative writing journey so far! ⭐️
It may have been baltic, but it didn’t stop P67W heading out for their maths today. We were using d=st to calculate distances, then measured it out in the playground. Fab teamwork 👌🏼
A fab activity and looking forward to the children using their STEM, problem solving and 3D shape skills to produce a building that would withstand an earthquake and a tsunami!
Demonstrating how waves can be generated from the abrupt movement of tectonic plates under the sea, causing a tsunami. Check back in as we design buildings to withstand an earthquake as part of our Japan topic 🇯🇵
Have had the best couple of days with @LindseyPate23 and P4F learning about and cooking Japanese food! Lovely to sit together as a class and have a meal completely prepped and cooked by the children 👌🏼🧑🏼🍳👩🏻🍳
P4F cooked up an absolute storm this week! We have been learning about the Eatwell plate and then researching Japanese food. So we chopped, sliced and diced lots of yummy vegetables yesterday and cooked them in to a delicious Teriyaki Noodle dish today. 👇🏼
P4F had a go at creating code for our Microbits today! They all successfully made a flashing heart loop, then had some free time to explore the program and create their own set of instructions. Big thanks to our P3/4 helpers for their support too! @MidDigiLearn @microbit_edu
We’d rather be in the classroom, with our children, teaching, inspiring, challenging, playing, learning, creating, making a difference and doing the job we all love doing. However here we are. #insolidarity#payattent10n@EISUnion
P4F absolutely loved meeting local magician and author, @DanBastianelli today after reading his first novel ‘Mission Magician’. He brought in the next book in his series for us, did a Q and A session and even taught us some magic! Brilliant to have you visit - Thanks Dan!
P4F have been LOVING our new class novel - The Creakers by @TomFletcher! So much so, our writing has been very much inspired by the characters and story line of the novel. Here we are describing what we would do for the day at school if our teachers were stolen by Creakers.
Very busy start of P4 but this has to be my favourite activity so far! Bit of maths, technologies, art, problem solving and digital learning all rolled in to one - it’s not just topic! 🧠💪🏼
P4F have started their topic for this term which is castles! We looked at different parts if a castle and gave it a go at designing our own! Firstly we used shapes to create a castle on paper then transferred our designs to our Chromebooks, layering shapes on Jamboard 💻
P4F progressing our balancing skills to concentrating on bouncing balls. A mixture of wonderful successes! Some excellent balancing, some confident bouncing and lots and lots of growth mindset 🧠💪🏼
P4F have been learning that feedback from your friends can help make your brain stronger 🧠💪🏼 we used Austin’s Butterfly as an example where we had to draw a butterfly and give critical feedback to our partner. Using this feedback we redrafted our first drawing!
Facilitated by one of our fabulous Gorebridge families, Miss Forgan was excited to pick up a very generous donation from @HarbroLtd - Dalkeith today. P3’s are learning about food and sustainability, so this is going to allow for many great learning opportunities. Huge thanks 🙌🏼
