Today was all about birch bark baskets, & the cultural teachings of the experience. The math connections during this task were so evident. We talked SA, V, Cap. , and informal methods of measurement.

Todayβs experience was learning about looming & itβs connections to math. Thankful to be in a space with so many community partners that allows us to have these experiences & learning.
Girlβs Volleyball came to an end tonight with #SJM in the finals against Confed! We ended up falling just short of a win but they played their best game yet! I am so proud of them! Way to go Knights!
Studentβs had the opportunity to learn about Black Ash Basket making from Spencer Lunham this week. They participated in small groups & w/some persevering, made some beautiful baskets. Chi Miigwech to Spencer (& his aunt!) for sharing his time & knowledge with us! π #LKDSB#SJM

Culturally responsive STEM project! Ss are applying their knowledge from building a wigwam last week to build their own here in class! Ss had to create a circle base when given the diameter. Next, Ss build their dome-like structures to be strong enough to hold a βblanket of snowβ
