🚨 PELICAN BAY STATE PRISON: INMATE KILLED IN ATTACK

47-year-old Javier Torres(CDC#V68554), who was serving life without the possibility of parole for the attempted murder of two Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies in Bellflower in 2003, was killed in an attack at Pelican Bay State Prison on October 4, 2026.

Officials say correctional staff witnessed Jose Zapian (CDC#AS3672) attack Torres in the lower yard at approximately 8:24 a.m. An improvised weapon was recovered at the scene.

Torres was transported for medical treatment but was pronounced dead at 9:25 a.m.

Zapian has been placed in restricted housing as prison investigators and the Del Norte County District Attorney’s Office continue investigating the homicide.
