Last week, I toured 2 major infrastructure projects being built by the @LangleyTownship. A 5 sheet stacked arena and a soccer campus. Both projects tracking on time and on budget.
It can be done, people.
If local governments can procure, build and deliver responsibly for taxpayers, then your provincial government should be able to as well.
This is what inequitable funding of Fraser Health looks like. 40% of the population, 22% of the funding, 2000 people lying in hallways. SHAME on the NDP.
Nearly 2000 identified hallway beds in Fraser Health alone identified through FOI.
With capacity significantly above 100% in those facilities, the real question the media needs to ask the Ministry of Health, is how many of these beds are regularly occupied...
#FraserHealthCheck: (June 2 - June 8) The pattern of service disruptions continues. How many days of closures are needed for Fraser Health to get the support it needs?
Numbers don't lie. Fraser Health has 40% of the population, but only receives 22% of the funding👎

Don’t hurt yourself in Mission today! No ER for you!
This is what inequitable funding for Fraser Health looks like. 40% of the population but only 22% of the funding.
Due to physician staffing challenges, Fraser Health is implementing a temporary service interruption at the Mission Memorial Hospital Emergency Department from Sunday, June 7 at 5:00 p.m. to Monday, June 8 at 8:00 a.m.
Two average russet potatoes.
A whole food side dish.

I do not blame the farmer who works 15 hour days.
I do not blame the retailer, employing hundreds of workers at barely a living wage.
I blame 10+ years of the Federal Liberals and BC NDP for an affordability crisis that has reached epic proportions.
3 days ago it was Mission maternity, now it’s Ridge Meadows maternity.
Keep those babies inside ladies on the north side of the river, Fraser Health has no Doctors for you!
This is what inequitable funding of Fraser Health looks like. 40% of the population, but only 22% of the funding.
Due to a temporary gap in obstetrician-gynecologist coverage at Ridge Meadows Hospital, a maternity diversion will be in place from Friday, June 5 at 8:00 a.m. until Monday, June 8 at 8:00 a.m.

Congratulations to a Langley local, Peter Steunenberg, who was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the BC Awards for Excellence in Steel Construction. I was incredibly honoured that CISC asked me to present this award to my friend and neighbour. As a leader and an advocate, Peter has shown his dedication to the steel fabricating business throughout his career at Solid Rock Steel Fabricating, and is more than deserving of this recognition.
Thank you to @CISCICCA for having me, and congratulations to Peter on the well-earned award.
Another day, another disruption. This is what inequitable funding for Fraser Health looks like.
It’s 40% of the population, but only 22% of the funding.
Due to physician staffing challenges, Fraser Health is implementing a temporary service interruption at the Mission Memorial Hospital Emergency Department from Sunday, May 31 at 5:00 p.m. to Monday, June 1 at 8:00 a.m.
Jody crushed the government with her questions on this bill in committee. One of the most detrimental bills of this session.
This government is the most secretive government in recent memory. Now they’ve legislated themselves to be even more so.
As the critic for Citizen Services, I dedicated significant time to committee debates and spent countless hours questioning the NDP's actions. Despite this, they rushed their controversial Freedom of Information (FOI) bill through by designating it a confidence matter at the last minute, ultimately relying on the Speaker’s tie-breaking vote to secure its approval.
Why take such drastic measures? A government that feels the need to diminish access to information is fully aware of its intentions.
The residents of British Columbia do not require increased secrecy; they deserve a government that is prepared to respond to their inquiries.
Bill 9 complicates that process.
The NDP wants to sell BC's natural gas to the world.
And ban it in your home.
The Minister of Housing sent a letter pressuring Vancouver City Council to ban natural gas.
The Minister of Energy knew about it.
But nobody thought that was a problem.
They're championing LNG exports on the world stage while stripping energy choice from BC homeowners.

#FraserHealthCheck: (May 18 - May 25) After a short-lived moment of relief, a continuation of service disruptions into this week tells us that the system is still struggling to provide sustainable access to health care.
The numbers don't lie. Fraser health is 40% of the population, but only receives 22% of the funding.

You could feel the community frustration at this rally. Burnaby is the third largest city in BC with one of the worst bed counts in the province. Phase 2 was supposed to address that.
Another vanPopta daughter making the news cycle! So proud of Georgia’s grassroots efforts to launch an education program for whale safety in our local waters. ❤️
Today, I was asked to leave the chamber after calling out the Premier for remarks I believe were false and misleading regarding my record and the record of members of our caucus on LNG development in Northern B.C.
For years, the Premier has attempted to claim that we do not support projects like LNG Canada, while at the same time trying to take credit for a project he actively opposed while in opposition. The people of the North remember who stood alongside our workers, local governments, Indigenous partners, and communities to fight for these opportunities when it mattered most.
I am proud of my record. As a Kitimat city councillor, I worked hard alongside many others to help get Phase 1 of LNG Canada to final investment decision. That project has created jobs, opportunity, and long-term economic benefits for our region and for British Columbia. The credit belongs to the many people who put in the hard work over many years to make it happen.
I will not sit quietly while the history of that work is rewritten for political convenience.
When the people of Skeena elected me, I promised to be a loud, strong, and unapologetic voice for our communities. That means standing up for our workers, our industries, and the truth, even when it is uncomfortable.
I will continue to do exactly that every single day, unapologetically.
Last week was the first week without service disruptions. Well that didn’t last long!
This is what inequitable funding of Fraser Health looks like. 40% of the population, but only 22% of the funding.

#FraserHealthCheck: (May 11- May 17) For the FIRST time this year, there were no Fraser Health Service disruptions last week.
Numbers don’t lie. Fraser Health = 40% population, but only 22% funding.
